  • Hard News: Doing Science in Court,

In the unlikely (I hope) event that CSC are successful in their Court action, what happens then?

It's not just NZ data that indicates warming - will the CSC start court action in every country where a scientist has produced numbers that indicate that global warming is a happening thing?

  • Hard News: The Snappers,

Thanks for the info re World Press Photo exhibition. Is this the first time it has got to Auckland?

I've managed to see a couple of the previous ones in other cities while travelling and can recommend them to anyone who likes amazing photography combined with poignant reminders of the recent past.

  • Hard News: Ideology for Evidence,

    @ Sacha some time back:

Mr Key said this issue had been raised with him, and it affected the meat industry.

    Talley's?

  • Hard News: Party central is hurting my head,

    from the Herald:

Since Mr Key announced plans for party central in June last year, his vision of "a mass public opening ceremony and the magnet for fans who can't be at games" has been a planning and political shambles.

Did he mean a mass public opening of party central or of the RWC? If the latter, isn't it the job of the RWC 2011 company to organise that, not the govt?

  • Hard News: Party central is hurting my head,

Besides Key and McCully does anyone else actually support Party Central? I've yet to hear anyone supporting it.

  • Hard News: Public Address: Technical Profile,

A couple of thoughts that occurred to me while reading the stats:
    1. Some of us (well, me at least) use IE at work and Firefox at home - so the numbers don't necessarily reflect the preference of the users - although they can't be far off.
    2. One corporate I worked for directed all Internet traffic to the USA before going outside its firewall, so some of your non-NZ visitors could well originate from NZ. Again, I don't think that this would be a significant number, and would probably just change the numbers to the right of the decimal point.

  • Speaker: KICK IT! Sweet 16,

My comment about the West German jersey makes more sense in the context of this mornings Speaker post.

  • Speaker: KICK IT! Sweet 16,

Apparently the Germans don't put as much stock in the England rivalry as the English do

Just don't mention the war! Without trying to Godwin this thread, one English football chant in the fairly recent past has been '2 world wars, 1 world cup' - the English obviously only count the World Cup finals when it has been England v Germany.

The West German jersey seemed to be very popular in the 90's - I guess the wearers of those jersies are now driving a BMW, Audi or VW.

  • Speaker: KICK IT! The Highest Mountain,…,

@Peter - True, especially as football is the number one sport in Italy. I wonder how rugby rates in Italy compared to football in NZ.
