  • OnPoint: Everything has changed until 2014,

Bart I seem to remember a year or so a survey did ask about the need for tax cuts, and the response was largely that if more tax gave better Health and Education Services then let the tax be more. A very successful drive by NAct seems to have convinced that tax cuts are good cuts.

  • Legal Beagle: Hidden in plain sight,

If I was a defendant and had to provide my defence to the prosecution wouldn't that mean that big money could be spent by the prosecution to undermine my defence before it was even my turn to defend in the courtroom? (Be like the political party having to explain their strategy to the others before the election.)

I imagine that Paula Bennett would still be there after the Election from her List placing. Can't get rid of her that easily!

Lucy. Your last paragraph could have come from the USA Republican handbook. And it resonates here amongst many. Sadly.

Andrew:There seem to be several people appearing on blogs who seem to be sort of sympathetic but have you thought of just shifting your thinking towards....... Mmmm?
As a matter of history years ago I knew a bloke in his 50s who had many kids in his family. He was drawing the child support (Allowance) and this was significant money. He was a capable mechanic. But when employment was found for him he would soon sabotage his own work and get fired. My argument to the local irate residents was that he was one of a very small minority so ignore him. He was known as Shorty Benefit. It was better to have him out of the workforce. Meanwhile lets help the 99% who do deserve help.

Andrew C. Have you heard the argument that because there are some very nasty people in prison, therefore everyone who breaks the law and ends up in prison deserves the harshest treatment and the longest sentence? SST?
Actually like with the dole I would far rather cater for the most, and avoid worrying about the very few bludgers.
So please do not use your 3 friends as examples of a dole failure or examples of failed doctors????

Giovanni: 104 Fraud Catchers to catch $64 million.
The Fraud Office has only a handful of staff to catch the white collared crime worth $100s of millions. Wonder why?

It seems that the WWG Report is a copy of USA plans from 1990s.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_Responsibility_and_Work_Opportunity_Act

    And the Wisconsin model http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisconsin_model

How many millions were spent to get the copy of those reports? Thanks James and Brice.

The rule of thumb goes like this:
Read the Opinion piece. If you agree then the Opinionated is very clever and enlightened.
If you disagree then the Opinionated is a stupid, cretinous, bigotted disaster and must clearly be a stooge for the other side - even if it is your Mother.
