The NRT and Chris Trotter spat is interesting
Idiot/Savant blog has not allowed comment for a long time so consquently I only read it every couple of days
Despite a strong left wing tendency he is prepared to call things as he sees them and he would go to the top of my list if he allowed comment
His calling of Chris while slightly over the top seems soundly based so it will be interesting to see how CT, who has been sheltered from criticsm before he came ablogging will react
Great stuff! -
Thank god the scots discovered the frying process, before that they boiled everything.....boiled mutton..awfull
Back to the subject, there are some real heart breaking stories here, again thank god or someone that school is not the best days of our lives
I went to a country school in the early 50s, kids still wore lace up boots and my chief memory other than all the bullying was the mud, the cold and the exploding pot bellied stoves
Don't tell me about Maori being strapped for speaking Te Reo in the class room, we were strapped for speaking englishThe one big change with the end of corporal punishment was brought home to me when I was involved with the local High school Boardin the 90s
When I was at school it was us against the teachers and while they could beat us there was room for us to be subversive
I managed to endure High school without a canning but that was because I was never caught
You one would ever grouse on your fellow students but now there was a race to dob each other in
Made running the place so much easier! -
Just before you all get your respective knickers in a twist with the evil right wing bloggers taking a rather poorly aimed pot shot at the PM
Check out how the boys at "The Standard" handle the same theme, slightly better but it just proves that an election can bring out the worst in someIf you are looking for a better type of right wing blog try the Homepaddock

Well I agree with Toms
There I have writen that and that is the second time this year I do wish Tom would write more left leaning diatribes that I don't agree with
His point was you just have to go with the flow
I had to go through a big Taranaki wedding mostly driven by my brides famil. I put my foot down on a wedding dance but other than that went with the flow
On the other hand now that our sons are getting married (one down two to gp) small, no relations other than really near and very informal seems ok
Just how the french girl friend will fit in with this only time will tell, onI have just oganised a funeral for my atheist father, we went the Moari way with that and it went very well

Islander, yes I know that you start later, we have a stand on the Hast but I have never fished there.....as yet!
Of course you can have whitebait fritters which are popular
I rather like them quickly fried after a dusting of flour, works well when you only have a hand full for the day
And when you have masses, poached in milk is just beautiful -
Islander, I would love to get my feet under your table
PS I could provide whitebait! (only 8 days to season start)

That is soooo good
And the best argument I have ever heard for state sponorship of political partiesI have always been strongly against that as I feel feeding them it only encourages the buggers
But that tape quite rightly does make it sound so sleezy
Nice one cheered me up no end, laughed out loud as I sit here writing my dad's eulogy

David, I got so angry reading your post I had to walk away from the computer before finnished reading it
Quite frankly this sort of thing should not be able to happen
I do have to say that my experiences with the birthing process (three sons spread over 6 years) even though it was 30 years ago was much more positiveAnyway a belated happy birthday to Bob and give his mother a big hug, she is such a trooper

Been there, done that.
I do have to say that while sitting in the darkness with the optometrist intensivily asking me questions I have to strongly quell a disire to lie, not sure why this is and it is (I claim) uncharacteristic
I do agree about the childhood testing not picking up children and how poor eye sight can interfer with education, the test needs to be more rigorousYou might point out to your daughter that girls who wear glasses are so much better looking, my wife(who naturally wears glasses) says it is because they tend to magnify the eye which is of course the enterance to the soul

Happy birthday RB
And a query (maybe your dear partner may know if you don't)
Why is it so hard to find a printed schedule of programms for the Freeview channels
I know I can scan through them with the electronic gizmo but why is nothing in printAnd may the day after your birthday be almost as good as the day
