As a lay person I think the Law Society has a bit of a job on it's hands: Jordan Williams, Judith Collins, and Cathy Odgers all need looking at. No question about bringing the profession into disrepute.

Speaker: Election 2014: Mental Health Policies, in reply to
Yes, mental health issues need to be taken seriously, along with other issues which make people vulnerable and people need to be treated with respect and compassion. Sue is correct in pointing out that current government policies are likely to cause terrible stress in some people who see nowhere else to turn. It doesn't excuse violent reaction but we should be asking why these things happen. There is a list here http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11317363

This is a great story, you are a remarkable man Harold. It speaks to kiwi ingenuity, intelligence and faith (and a wonderful family) that you completed the building of this remarkable vessel without any sailing experience. I'm sorry to hear of your accident but thank you very much for this uplifting diversion- and I'm pleased that Muldoon did you a favour in spite of himself.

It all depends how high and far the rot can be shown to go, doesn't it? If the PM (not the PM's office) is truly clean, then it is in his own best interests to have a proper, full inquiry. It needs to be of the highest integrity and to be seen to be beyond any manipulation and it must have a very wide brief.
If not... JK will be judged by his actions. -
With everyone else, Palmer, the opposition, even Hooton, calling for a proper wide ranging and independent inquiry, do you think Key can still avoid it? Surely he has to capitulate, which would mean it'll happen after the election. If not, it shows up some of the issues we have with the structure of our "democracy"- seriously inadequate checks on those in power. A limited inquiry will fool no-one and surely risk alienating honourable Nats, just digging a deeper hole.

yup, there's truth here. Such deviousness demands continued secrecy for success. Bring out the bright lights and strong independent journalists, we need the 4th estate to work properly.

The country has been tolerating apparent incompetence (the most generous interpretation) for a long time now.

Hard News: Dirty Politics, in reply to
yes sirree, that nice Mr Key would never have been part of such nasty politics, he mustn't have known, just like Ms Collins can't have known someone approached Winnie on her behalf behind her back- must be a left wing smear campaign.
