Anyhow, what I found was this;But the government's tourism-centric policies have begun paying dividends. At S$196 million, it is the country's second largest revenue earner, only slightly behind overseas remittances which stood at S$206 million at the end of 2004.
which raises the question, are we subsidising tourism through Air NZ or the fishing industry? or just Air NZ itself.
When you consider this.Polynesian Airline flights from American Samoa to Apia during the Christmas holidays are already fully booked.

I'm not seeing people say that the downturn in profit is because it's mis-managed, I suspect the downturn in profits is because we're in a massive downturn in world trade. There's no sane reason for this to be in private hands
There is no doubt that the "Recession" is man made but the question I have been asking, and have received no answer, is, was it deliberate and who stands to gain?.
The "destruction" of billions of dollars worth to wealth was inevitable because that "wealth" was not real. The bad debt was palmed off on unsuspecting lenders and investors leaving those with the real wealth to pick up the spoils at well below market price. This is an ideal scenario for selling off state assets in the name of "helping the economy". The usual suspects are lining up at the door of the great New Zealand Fire Sale.
If you think I am wrong don't bother telling me just yet, wait six months and then try and tell me. -

Much of the time I find this forum to take the trivial far too seriously but when it comes to power and it's corrupting influence, I find many are too timid to take the plunge and call a spade a spade. -
In the end years of the Labour Government, I felt that no matter what argument I presented to the Government, ones they could be sympathetic to in other times, they'd carry on their pre-ordained agenda. It didn't make a difference to them.
That is a sad truth. The reason we now have the "government we deserve" can be blamed on what is left of traditional media. We have riled on this point for years. What is to be done? I despair.
FUCK. when the hell are the PEOPLE going to wake up to the fact that the few that rule do not have the survival of the species as their prime objective? The rich/wealthy are not the high point of human endevour,. They are the embodiment of Satan. -

On a serious note I would llike to point out that I, and others, warned that this BOC was going to do just this sort of thing but democracy allows stupid, ignorant and mislead people to vote too.

Personally i don't believe the Public Service are that bad. It's a pretty dull kind of job and financially it is just a money go round, it's a bit like paying your kids to do chores instead of giving them pocket money and paying someone outside of the family to do the chores instead. Think about it.
The real problem within Public Service is "Empire Building", especially when it is done from the very top.

And why did we consumers put up with uniformly crappy CD cases whose hinges break with normal use?
There is an alternative but it doesn't seem to be that widly adopted, well at least in this country. Paper Foam have a product that, according to the video, offers much more than the crappy plastic "jewel" cases. I guess one of the reasons people don't bother buying many CDs is the physical product is just so bad you don't want to give it house room let alone be the proud owner of. Now, if it were an extension of the work of art that is the content then it would be a different story.
