meanwhile it looks like the data stored is to be deleted - isn't this akn to destroying evidence? (not to mention the legally stored data people will lose)

- Videoz - closed and locked in the countries affiliated with the USA.
- 4shared - Deleting files with copyright and waits in line at the FBI.
- MediaFire - Called to testify in the next 90 days and it will open doors pro FBI

- Network Share mIRC - awaiting the decision of the case to continue or terminate Torrente everything.
- Koshiki - operating 100% Japan will not join the SOUP / PIPA

would be amusing (well I think so) to see all these services continue but just ban all US users - time to taste the joys of geoblock...the ongoing ramifications of the web & our useage of will be interesting to see - file under another potential (cost effective and efficient + revenue earning) distribution model being killed (attempted) off rather than employed by content owners

it'll be standard for all media in the future dylan, I believe
its the distribution channels that are changing not peoples desire to enjoy content... its for the content owners to find a way to generate revenue...
megaupload showed one way... allegedly with illegal content... replace that with sanctioned content and a revenue stream back to the owners/creators holders of the copyright and the publics desires can actually be catered to (as market forces surely dictate?)
no income vs potential income via one means is our current bottleneck

this all seems to be a huge over-reaction given the nature of the alleged offences and the timing most poor given the anti SOPA and PIPA online protests which US politicians are now pandering to
the trial by lifestyle currently going on in the media is disgusting - I expect similar insight into the lifestyles of the SCF directors who've outed themselves - yeah right
sure doesn't leave you with a good feeling about backing up to any cloud based service

I'd suggest people buy into the festival... make it their own and create a sense of what it means as a festival to themselves and their circles of friends
when the owner of the festival doesn't reinforce what they think it is then they feel betrayed and anger is expressed
as an example well expressed via the major news sites feedback sections the legions of rock fans who feel its a rock festival and the booking or attempt to bring Kayne here was a betrayal of what the BDO is for them, they forget or more to the point intentionally missed BEP, Dizzy Rascal, Kool Keith and dozens more hip hop acts over the years + other genres and vica versa...
its never been about a single style, genre or anything, the name fit the festival perfectly but that doesn't mean people don't and didn't feel it was for them and their built up view of what it all stood for and now are expressing a sense of betrayal and anger (as happens every year the lineup is announced)
people are strange.. as we love to complain but very rarely ever thank those that risk it all promoting such things cause that simply doesn't occur to most of us

as I've got older the lineups have appealed less and less yet my enjoyment has increased for a day out of the office hearing music I love, loathe and am indifferent to - its always been the people that made the BDO quite special, the various youth tribes... the 30 somethings and those older who all mix happily and brilliantly for a day of musical adventures
a festival is a wonderful way to try out acts you're not sure of or wouldn't ever pass over your hard earned to see in a show of their own - especially local acts and the BDO catered to this wonderfully
I loved the lilypad.... I saw John Cooper Clarke there and that was pinch me inducing special (he wasn't very "good" and it didn't matter - in fact that made it all the better)
one of my fav memories was 2000/1 (?) when Roger Perry, Soane and a few others were dropping summery housey goodness as the sun set and played a particular tune I adored, as far as I'm concerned that was the moment that house really took hold of parts of the auckland music (and drug muppet) community - it was special
good memories and many more lost to age and excess... cheers
