  • Hard News: Tired and emotional, for reals,

This is todays biggest issue in our land and every single relevant writer must cover it

Some people wonder why the public seemingly only care about celeb culture...

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Dubious achievements,

digging the jellphonic here, the blog is a daily smile inducer... solid track too

suns out and its a glorious day... for some beats

can never get enough of this... and adore that someone has edited the two sides of the 12" release into one as it should be

speaking of beats or EDM as some stupid american with no knowledge of their own musical culture would put it (spits on the ground)...

"The critic-heavy I Love Music message board has assembled the top 110 “very nebulously defined” dance tracks of the previous decade."

    http://www.factmag.com/2012/08/30/i-love-music-compiles-top-110-electronic-dance-tracks-of-the-00s/

and as its the interwebs someone with too much time on their hands (awesomely) has compiled the list into:

    youtube playlist: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5D929515B2E7016D
and for the spotify crowd http://t.co/wPI5SsQZ

  • Hard News: Music: Radio is still relevant,

love radio the concept... and miss it horribly as a one time DJ/announcer/hack but hardly ever listen anymore - refuse to sit and endure "bad talking" of which radio is littered and never been that great on appointment listening

I'm more likely to grab podcasted shows after the fact for when I want to listen (file alongside TV and most content that can be digitalised)

Spotify - I am loving, the more time I spend with it the less time I have for itunes, soundcloud and all manner of other on and offline things - excluding vinyl which when I have decks, beer and time is my fave.

Spotify sure ain't perfect and the catalogue is patchy (aren't they all) and often times just plain weird - hate remastered and changed music I keep finding... don't like seeing artwork that is different to the physical versions of things I own, don't like how more often than not the release date is for the digital version of the album (I assume thats what it is) not the original street date of the release - as its confusing... love finding songs I've known about but never found to be able to listen to or often times afford when you had the rare chance to purchase... and all that music I've never wanted nor needed to own, wonderful!

Spotify has in fact replaced radio in my world, now if the few good hosts out there (and they are the exception) could migrate to add to my listening time I'd be most appreciative

  • Hard News: Christchurch: Is "quite good"…,

the bigger threat to auckland is from the volcanic plateau than the cones around the city itself - gas and volcanic dust being the immediate killers as opposed to the hollywood notion of lava flows and nazis living at the centre of the earth - upside is volcanos tend to give months of warning before they go crazy

infrastructure breakdowns are a bigger threat to Auckland than anything natural

    /sidetrack back to CHCH
