  • Hard News: Start with your conclusion,

Wake Up People ! Didn't anyone watch Shorty last night? The whole MMR thing was there as a plot line.

They obviously have some sort of trans-dimensional time machine so they can get their plot lines to tie in to these subjects.

That is the real conspiracy Wishart should be investigating - or maybe Soros is funding Shorty too...

  • Hard News: You've got to listen to the music,

ZOMG Sash ! I'm not doing the BDO but he's nearly enough reason to make me go. Nostaligia for the amazing fun music he did years ago. But he should be playing at the Big Gay Out .

  • Field Theory: One in a billion,

    1) I loved it that he came out. Great for young queers to see more variety

    2) As Sociologist , who does a little work in the area of sexuality, I'd say that trying to figure out on a statistical basis how many gays there are is impossible. A lot of guys who like a bit of man-on-man action every now and then don't consider themselves gay. I've had sex with married straight men who definitely don't think they're gay (neither do I) but every now and then... they like a change or something.

3)Gay is a self-identifying term, and not a category that can be easily measured. Are we talking about identity? Or are we talking about a sexual contact to the point of orgasm with someone of the same biological gender while an adult?

    4) I am pretty sure I recall Fr Felix Donnelly saying years ago he'd counselled an AB over being gay.

    5) I'd do Gareth in a heartbeat.

  • Hard News: See you Latta, Bob ...,

I can't bear Latta's tv style - stupid, jokes based on idiotic stereotypes, all designed to turn himinto some sort of hero it seems.

So I was also worried about him being in this role, but he seems to have done it ok.

  • OnPoint: Taskforce 2025: A Space Odyssey,

And the entire operation cost $400,000, if I'm not mistaken?
Money well-spent by the fiscally responsible govt.

The thing is that the ideas underlying their recommendations are based on pure Monetarism, the belief in the rationality of the market and conceiving of people as "Rational Utitlity Maximsers". All crap, and we saw last year how rational a deregulated market is.

But like any fundamentalists they cling to their sacred texts and claim that they have the truth.

  • Busytown: Less is more,

    Spike H is a genius.
But in terms of G & S, I can't but think "Poor Wandering One" from Pirates of Penzance might be a good one to use here.

  • Busytown: A turn-up for the books,

I always lower students' grades and explain why if I find plagiarism. I also show them how easy it is to acknowledge sources. And it is. First years get a sermon and a slap, but after that you're in trouble.

  • Hard News: Standing up and calling bullshit,

"panty-waist" sounds so 1950s USA high-school coach laughing at the fags in gym class who can't catch a ball.

  • Up Front: White in Brighton,

Yes, thank you, such a deserved filleting. Young and dumb, but taking pride in being "White".
Nauseating. Where do we contribute to the shock collar fund?

  • Random Play: The Seduction of the Strange,

a vulgar tacky piece of shite

So out of keeping with Auckland how, exactly?

(Just keeping the Auckland / Welly thing going. It's like LA/SF. Or Melbourne/Sydney - although those two are much more alike than the inhabitants care to admit).

Rich, what are you tring to get at here? Don't be shy now...
