  • Hard News: Feckless Solutions,

The Army did this years ago in the Barracks to stop binge drinking and fights.
10 Man rooms and the bar were once all there was.
Now rooms are individual carpeted 1/2 way up the wall to reduce noise. The food is bloody brilliant, better than half the cafes in any city (Waiberia not included).
And of course alot of the focus is on building people up not running them down.

I do think money is a huge part of the answer.
Japans education system has the best Teachers placed in the lowest areas (so I'm reliably told) to raise the society as a whole. All schools are state & well paid.
I believe Plunket was mentioned earlier in the piece and whatever agency takes on that task we obviously need more of it & that takes money.
Mums need more cash in hand for fish, meat (not turkey asses) and fruit & vege. And a bit more for the kids. Heck pay for a baby sitter from an agency with qualifications in looking after kiddies.
Improving housing, insultation, Solar Hot water heaters (to reduce power bill) - paid by HNZ or Landlord or Govt grant.
Start kids off on a level playing field of the norms of a middle class life and society will be alot better off. (Not to say violence and dodgy shit only happens in poor homes but this will heal a lot of societies ills.)

Damn single parent families on welfare in bloody state houses.
Isn't one of those welfare children standing for PM next year?

Daniel you've bravely waged in bashing up solo women on the DPB. Even when presented with the evidence that this has nothing to do with the tragedy.

I've missed it, could you reiterate you're valueble insight again?

The DPB isn't at fault here, although our welfare system does need help - more people & more money. National for cutting welfare to below subsistence levels did one thing right. Paid for those on the DPB to train - that was bloody marvelous.

"The thing about looking at incentives too is that it also doesn't have any racial or cultural overtones, so it's not a bad place to start. "

Wrong - an incentive not to have children says poor people don't deserve to live. It is genocidal in it's construct.
Due to the devestion of colonisation Maori are still very much in a growth phase of population and will need to be for some time to come.

But Daniel if you want to be the first Lemming lead the way.

how could the architects of genocide and someone like Sophie Scholl co-exist?

Am I the only one who got F*%k off with Sophie Scholl?

A member of Hitler Youth who didn't believe in it, but dutifully played her part as another face in the crowd.
If the movie is to be believed she was given a couple of outs by which to save her life & didn't. That really pissed me off.

I hadn't wondered where Jim Hopkins went after his diner chats at CTV stopped. Marc Alexander was his cook & Andrew Merts was a star & they had a meal and a yarn, nothing much, nothing much at all.
He was targeting Robs Mob with this article, not a reinvention but the real thing. To wildy jump from abused babies to 80yr old hip replacements drawing on the fears of abuse many the elderly have.
The only thing missing was the word senior from his A Citizen sign off.
How can anyone advocate starvation as a cure for abuse?

Did love Michael Laws talking about peoples fitness to parent & how's his fitness to be a lawyer going at the moment?

    Good Bastard
At the funeral on Friday we remembered Roger Fraser.
Described as being to the Right of Genghis Khan politically.
I always knew him as the Fat Controller (from Thomas the Tank Engine), he was my BSM for most the time I knew him. Then he became the Army Legal Officer a Cpt.
When questiioned about his fitness to be in the Army he famously said "you want me for my mind not my body". The strains on the faces of the pallbearers said it all, then the changeof the casket to shoulders high I held my breath, and the above heads move to place him on the funeral gun had cameras at the ready.
For all his gruff exterior he did good work with no hope of payment for some of the most victimised people in our community, he certainly helped a few my TF mates out on occation.
Finally standin half way down the bank at St Andrews College Chapel as it was full and the outside seating too. A sparrow flew overhead and exacted Rogers revenge on my shining cranium - exactly for what I don't know but take it the debts now been paid.

(I normally give up the drink for lent - bloody St Paddys in the middle of lent).

Poor old Mayor Garry Moore in CHCH is shadow boxing like a tormented drunk everyone taps on the shoulder he comes out with a wildly inaccurate right hook.

Bob Parker ran for Mayor a term earlier than they had agreed. So now it's Bob Parker v Dr Megan Wood. Personality v Substance.
