  • Hard News: Misconnection,

I am fairly new to this blog but why is Craig Ranapia so angry?

In the olden days, if me or any of my friends found ourselves with a flatmate who liked Blindspott or Linkin Park, we'd tag team the flatmate over the course of a couple of days.
"Why are they so angry?" "Why are they so angry?" and then we'd giggle to ourselves and feel morally superior.

I suspect this loses something in the retelling, but maybe I just wanted to compare Craig to Linkin Park or perhaps Harry Potter in book 5 when he's all teen-angsty. And now I will step down because this probably a highly unnecessary personal attack I care nothing about except that I wanted to relate a story noone would care about. As you were.

  • Hard News: Misconnection,

I thought the standout takehome message of this post was "Sometimes some people talk to their neighbours". Are you crazy, Russell? They could be paedophiles or P dealers! Or worse - bloggers!

  • Island Life: What it don't get, I can't use.,

Song one: 'Girls, Girls, Girls' by Jay-Z.

    And I'm OUT. :)

I figured starting with 'Young Folks' meant that I'm down with the kids like Nandor, 'The Good, The Bad ad The Queen' meant I'm down with the monarchy, and 'No Quarter' means I'm anti-immigrants and that works for Winnie. But I think 'Shitlist' is probably taking things too far. I mean, I'm not running for president.

When we (you) talk about $45 per page view, are we counting the people reached via offline campaigns and the impact that has?

I do find it ironic that a fair chunk of the ways that SPARC tries to reach the un-exercising, is via media that aren't about exercising - computers, TV adverts etc. The message seems to be "hey you, don't watch this, bugger off outside".

Um, if you want to reach people who aren't already outside exercising, you do need to get into the space that they're in - there'd be no point in putting up a "Hey, climbing mountains is cool!" billboard at the top of Mt. Cook, but at the bottom it might work.

  • Hard News: Travelling Gravely,

We're looking forward to your hotel review, Russell. Already we have one of the Holiday Inn, and on the Aucklandista I reviewed eight different hotels - and if you're too lazy to read it all, let me say the best was The Quadrant, the worst by a long shot was The Copthorne Harbour City, and the Elliot St Apartments offer a taxi service for $25 to the airport.

  • Hard News: New Sky,

Cheers. I've just realised: will this make us "the Dunedinista" ? :)

Not until you complete the Official Initiation Ceremony de Gross Humiliation.

But it's not so bad, I'll ask Jo to come & explain it.

And if not you'll be hearing from our lawyer... who also... technically, is Jo.

Actually our lawyer is officially Jessie, but she's in the UK right now. I'm just the loudest. To qualify as a city-ista, you need to be able to handle a hundred+ emails a day, have an "eliteist" attitude, know how to differentiate between a blog and a journal, have at least one public figure come and be a dick on your blog, have the inside word at half the drinking establishments in town, and also have the liver of a cold-blooded elephant. Oh but before any of that, you have to pass the initiation. And believe me, that's no walk in the park.

I'm not sure Ms Owen has the facts on her side this time.

Or perhaps someone's dealer is taking her for a ride...

  • Hard News: A night on the town with Mr Slack,

Thanks David, but I think credit goes to online editors of all these sites (stuff, NZH, Scoop) who frankly do an amazing job in an industry that is only *just* being recognised.

One of the biggest things on Stuff right now is a poll - Playboy Playmate of the Year: Hot or Not? Very important vital stuff...
