  • Busytown: The shakes,

    Anthropogenic Geology - sweet.
Back at Linc Uni we mentioned it in passing but weren't Engineers so it was just chat.
That is really interesting. Like when you mine under a town it subsides, taking vast amounts of 10000yr old water out in vast volumes in a short time might have a physical response other than drying up.

I think all of Christchurch are getting their sea legs, we are just rocking with the waves, even if they're not there.

In regards to the massage palour fire, is it one Dave Henderson owns?

  • Busytown: The shakes,

Lights and internet are back on at home. Neighbours have a new skylight next to where the chimney was.

All traffic lights were working on my way home and even a few of the farmers market stalls opened.

One family member is a bit shaken still & the kids in the flat next door are a bit louder than usual.

  • Busytown: The shakes,

Damage to the old red brick buildings on Colombo St are pretty huge, and old chimneys down.
People fall into two groups, rubber neckers & the disposessed walking to another hotel with suitcases in hand.

If you're a brickie, a chippie, or a plumber, get yourself down here.

  • Busytown: The shakes,

I've come into work as I've got no power or internet at home. My neighbours chimneys have come down.
These shaky Isles are living up to the name.

If you're a hertitage nut like me, it's a bad day as many of the nice buildings have gone. A little character lacking. So far it seems on a par with Dave Hendersons destruction of heritage. A building here, a street front there, but not dooms day.

Freck those after shocks just keep coming.

Hagley Park had heaps of silt in the middle of fields and near the pond. I thought at first the pond spilled over, but now think there might have been a bit of liquifaction.

It's a crisp sunny day and everyone seems to be smiling, except those who are still in shock.

  • Hard News: The Suicide Question,

I'm happy with the Status Quo, and other rock bands.
The coded message of the press "no suspicious circumstances", is gentle on the ears of the family and friends left behind, leaves no room for doubt about what is being talked about.
The truth is plain to see without the need for gore-pron.

  • Hard News: Meaning well with the money…,

The collapse of South Canty Fin could be our economic and environmental saviour.

This entire debarcle proves that dairy farming is not economically sustainable. We know it will move offshore in the next 15-20yrs and where to from there, with such capital investment?

We know Dairy farming isn't environmentally sustainable. Fed F&*@ers talk of pollution as the cost for prosperity.

With a collapse of SCF land prices will plummett and so make cropping financially viable again.

What was the first thing Fonterra did when it became the monolith it is today? Put domestic milk up 5cents a bottle, because of market forces.

Live by the market, die by the market.

  • Hard News: The Creepy Party,

I'm sure there is some subtle difference I haven't cottoned on to, but why is Mclay in court and Hide in parliment.
They did much the same thing, didn't they?
