  • Hard News: Angry and thrilled about Arie, in reply to Just thinking,

These commercial looters and those who oversaw it must be brought to justice. This is still going on and is into the millions. The copper dome of the old ANZ building and a few commercial kitchens is only naming those in the public domain.

Well Brownlee is the overlord. Demo crews expect that if they have a contract to demolish, they can take the treasure first. That is what they do. Head on down to the Demo yard and evidence will be there. It is all recycled. If any one thought the Demo crew would have sidestepped any good stuff amongst the rubble ( bearing in mind by the way that rubble is their forte) you're dreamin'.

Talk is starting in my circles of heating things up in politics.

Starting? One thing that frustrated me earlier on and now, is how polite the "News items with concerned Cantabrians" still are. I'm not saying polite is wrong but how helpful is it? I suspect the public don't see the frustration expressed so don't see the bigger picture that people down there are actually experiencing. That's probably why we see the nasty comments following David's situation. On TV, the angriest person I have seen was only this week. It was a woman standing in front of the truck uplifting portaloos (which she still needed) and refusing to budge, and guess what? She got heard. She can still shit.
Without wanting a bollocking, (which I'll probably get,) I really think emails should be bombarding all politicians with your queries.

  • Southerly: Tower Insurance Have Some Bad…, in reply to Joe Wylie,

Trevor Mallard's been happy to put his oar into Christchurch issues in the past. A pity that he seems to display a tacit admiration for Brownlee, rather than taking the fight to him.

He keeps getting kicked out of the House ;)
Trevor is one person that will respond to emails if you have queries though.

  • Southerly: Tower Insurance Have Some Bad…, in reply to Joe Wylie,

Further to his guest posting here, Mike Coleman was deliberately misrepresented by Gerry Brownlee as an opportunist who’d failed to understand the fine print of his insurance policy. It’s outrageous, it could happen to anyone, no matter how well-informed and articulate, and it passes pretty much unchallenged.

Joe,unsure if you read the Bulletins and updates from the Labour Party which I linked to earlier, but I do notice Brendon Burns has met Mike Coleman and The Insurance issues are mentioned including the heritage house land group website David Haywood is working on/with.
I guess you feel Labour isn’t doing enough but I think the updates do show their efforts to get answers for Cantabrians .
This is an example of their efforts at least. It was requested back in 2010. The updates are as recent as this last week.

Key’s personal appeal is a huge part of National’s advantage.

That was their strategy from day 1 of the last election. Only his photo in every electorate (’cept Richard Worth) Perception is, Key is the Puppet Master and we are already seeing that with Katrina Shanks’s electorate. Key kicked her butt to the curb with his backing of Dunne, then releasing press to the effect of “you will have more of the same if you do what you did last vote ”
This page of Hansard gives some idea of what Labour were promised and are not getting with CERA.

As an aside. my link of Maryan's post was a direct jibe at Murray McCully as well as Key. Finishing with " Not good enough Murray"

A pressing concern for the folk of Christchurch.

No, but seeing as it was here that complaints of inaction were laid, I thought it would be acceptable. Guess not.

  • Southerly: Tower Insurance Have Some Bad…, in reply to Rich Lock,

Thing is Rich I figured really early on in this event that Labour would have their usual difficulty of being heard through MSM. So I send emails asking questions to the horses mouth as it's kinda logical . If I ask ,they generally answer. Sadly it should be easy to locate but it really is a big issue for them to get anything out unless it's Phil Goff, often with headings not at all flattering. Clare Curran recently got a mention because she was in arguments on their blog.I suspect because it was bickering, it was worth publishing. But that's about all the attention she got. She writes almost daily on Red Alert and three years down the track they mention a quarrel as the news.
Anyway if you want to know something, email, it's this new thing, all the rage y'know
Also Rich, you can google eh? Think its the first thing if you google Labour Party :)
