And why is he overseas talking to the reinsurers? He's wasting our money then.

  • Hard News: Just don't call it "Party Central",

That's just what I was getting at Jack, (albeit with a slight slur last night after being out to watch Ireland beat USA). The Quay should have been shut but Fanshaw wasn't and an accident happened, could have been any day of the week. No body got off badly on the Quay. I only didn't agree with closing another main arterial route as a last minute thought. and making cars uturn back from whence they came. Oh and if you are gonna shut the street why, oh why then barrier the streets to try to create single files? That causes the rushing crushing atmosphere. This is what was around the end of Quay St heading to the Viaduct.

  • Hard News: Just don't call it "Party Central", in reply to recordari,

which Friday night most definitely wasn’t.

But, it was . It was just long especially for kids. As my other half said he noticed children and their antics close to the edge of Princes Wharf. He was concerned. One really should think "will any one else look out for my kid first?"I actually believe, if any child fell, hundreds of peeps would have jumped in to sort it out.So I think as a combined effort, yes kids were fine,Bit of a mess at the end, but hey all parties are.
Disclaimer: My Mum and Dad raised me around parties and swimming and surrounded by lots of people, and I never felt unsafe.

    SNAFU

Actually if we weren't all treated like Neanderthals and had been left to our own devices, buses, trains and autos would I believe have managed ok. By telling the country to use public transport caused many an unnecessary problem. Our roads were almost carless (don't get me wrong, I found a car park easy near Victoria Park) making driving easy and pleasant. The only road problem we experienced was where one of our main arterial routes (not supposed to be) was blocked and closed off, leaving cars with no alternative but to uturn and/or watch a few fans leaving the game early.
Also my view of the Queens Wharf for I was not far from it, there looked like there was lots of room, and I could see a bunch of people crushed up against the fence on Quay St, of which I opined it was good to be where we were, and then I forgot about them. Sad but true.

Bloody hell Ben, that’s a bit philosophical (and correct).

I've gone all melancholic.... for a minute
Then I recalled the fireworks of last night, with the skyperdermic exploding with a rainbow of colourful explosions, the crowds and water below, the wormos all dayglo like, the faint echo as the band played on, then, I realised, I had a bit of fun. Oh and yes ,there was a game of rugby in a field up the road. ;)

  • Hard News: Auckland City Nights,

I'm only at page 7. I think it's what your doing it for and why they did it. If you can find that out ,I don't think a tip is great unless you are broke and needed it. But Ben's matter of factness is quite typical of what is a winner for yourself. Something like what Islander did, seems a wonderful gesture.I think if that happened to me, it would bring tears to my eyes because it reflected someone's impression of me. Carol and Danielle are right too, don't ya think? Giving is the best anyone can do for another, and if it floats your boat....
