  • Field Theory: All Blacks v Wallabies Tensionfest, in reply to Islander,

We went to the Cav. With a friend. The Kitchen staff are friends too. Our bestest mates own the Kitchen. We had Nachos. We had a reserved table with a view for the game ,a place to smoke and strangers to liase with. The yells, the cheers, for reasons basically unknown to me. but, the peeps were happy. Of course our friend commented that her mate who jumped off a plane yesterday (tandem) kinda hoped the All Blacks could loose, as she believed it would influence the election for the better. We could be rid National. My man, in the loo crossed path (urinal) with another. He said" How was that!. He replied "Comme Ce Comme Ca.:)
I'm glad my friend thought about politics, I'm glad I didn't. I really hope we be rid NACT.I really hope the AB's win.
Luv you Hackis, luv you Islander. All Blacks won tonight, next.....!

  • Hard News: About Occupy Wall Street, in reply to Sofie Bribiesca,

    all in your mind.

That is what I suppose is great about actually going down to the local square to show a united front. Lots of people physically supporting one and another by being there in person. Pretty cool in my book.

  • Hard News: About Occupy Wall Street, in reply to Emma Hart,

Thanks but I am not one of the twits. I don’t do the friend book either. I try to not get too involved with these contraptions. Public Address is my most frequented place on this here little flat top thingy ;)
I was really hoping for a update from the likes of Hilary Stace. Maybe she will pop in later, if she ever gets out of there alive.

Soo now I clicked on your link and fancy that!
    thanks :)

  • Hard News: Angry and thrilled about Arie, in reply to Ian Dalziel,

Good to see that the antiseptic of media

” the manager of the building has urged tenants not to talk to the media.”

    And this gem
“CCHTT believes it is important for the process [that] an investigation is carried out without the involvement of the media”.
A tenant, who asked not to be named, said the email was puzzling.
“I don’t know why it is so damaging to talk to the media. It’s as if they are saying: `Shut up and trust us’. Well, I trusted them once and look what happened,” he said.
And there we go full circle back to the other thread via Minister BrownKey , “About Occupy Wall St”

What pisses me off is the carnival side show Bob style images these bus tours are conjuring up. A modest fee? Why do people with business or land in the area need to pay to go there? Seems totally wrong.

  • Hard News: The Politics of Absence, in reply to DexterX,

It likely could have been be just as bad under a Labour Govt – as a Rena thang could have easily happened at any time.

But it didn't and I think once again, (as Sacha linked to), budget freezes, cost cutting, job losses of strategically important people, who are all in a days achievements for NACT, have come home to roost. If you don't care about the people and it's environment what's the point of anything else. Money can take a jump as far as I see.
Labour are accused of too much bureaucracy , too nanny. I'd be happy right now with a better plan than what National have enabled. NACT don't give a shit about our environment. That is obvious.

  • Hard News: Dropping the Bomber,

“There’s been too much hui, not enough do-ey.

The first being someone from MNZ (I think) saying that they needed to establish if all the oil appearing around the striken ship was actually coming from said ship. That took about 24 hours or more.
Yes, I think emergency teams for emergencies need to be on the job immediately. Not waiting for an office to open or 9am starts.Declining offers for help such as booms and barges seems ridiculous when having these at the scene on stand by would be beneficial to say the least. There is a boom sitting in a warehouse on Auckland Wharf somewhere and I still see nothing around the ship now. Even a boom along the coastline could help. surely?
