  • Cracker: A Halloween story too cute not…,

i'm firmly in the bah humbug camp, i'm afraid. standard practice at my house has become to put a hand written sign on the front door that says "no trick or treat sorry! shhhhhh baby sleeping".

    **SNAP!!**

I've been doing that too for the past 3 years. Last year the damn kids actually broke the electronic lock on our gate and pushed their way in. Banged on my door and demanded lollies. I asked them "can't you read?" and "who broke my gate?" and they scarpered. No sign of any parents, either.

Kids these days ... need a good clip 'round the ear ... but no, it's against the Law ... I blame Helen Clarke ... </frothing> ... </falls to ground in spasm>

a few of the girls were dressed as Playboy bunnies with fishnets and skimpy outfits.

Did they sneak out of the house and get dressed 'round the corner? or did Mum think they looked as cute as a button? Probably the latter, and probably Mum took a photo on her phone too - and got the girls to do their sexiest pose, and then pxted all her friends, with the word LOL! attached.

I expect I'll see the photos turning up on Facebook soon enough ...

  • Hard News: Granny for Sale,

And we really need to hear from Meurant, along the lines of "Ross, just how rancid was your lobbying business?"

But OTOH he did get results for his clients.

  • Busytown: Trick or treat (Electoween 08),

When we were travelling in India with the kids we carved water melons - they work great - but with a redder glow

As much as I'm opposed to embracing this BS American tradition called Halloween I'm willing to concede that the horse has already bolted.

So if we __are __to have it, any chance we could embrace our Pacific roots and use water melons here, instead of pumpkins? (Not that watermelon really is that pasifika, but ...)

  • Cracker: All In,

watch this video of a screwed up voting machine:

__"You should never leave the voting booth without knowing who you voted for" __says the technician, who will be on hand to 'recallibrate' as required.

Yeah, right. Considering how many PAS ppl hit 'post reply' when they mean to hit 'preview' (myself included) ... there's no way they will have enough techies on polling day.

I've seen another clip which shows how if you load -5000 votes for a candidate into a Diebold voting machine, that candidate will be on zero if 5000 votes are cast. (lost the link sorry). You know the system is corrupt when they say it's too expensive to give voters a paper reciept of their cast ballot. (Yet bank ATM's manage it)

  • Hard News: Because They Could,

having lived through all the hype for Blair in '97, and normally rational people saying "I don't care what his policies are, getting into power is what's important", I've learned how much damage can be done by a politician who is cut too much slack by too large a proportion of the population for too long.

Yeah, but in Blair's case we were kept in the dark about how strongly he believed in God. We didn't realise he'd be joining the other wack job in doing the Lord's Work in Iraq.

Obama on the other hand is the reverse. Says he 'believes' in God, but not really. (And if I was him I'd soooo throw in a "asalam malaka" into my Inauguration Speech, just for laughs. See whitey run, run whitey, run.)

  • Island Life: Pregnant Calamity,

The other night Amy was wearing her hair up and with her reading glasses on. "Wow, you almost look like Sarah Palin, I remarked." She silently looked at me, removed her hair clip, did somthing slightly different to her hair and ouila! there it was, perfect Palin (but many years younger). I shuddered.

Yeah, but even so you then proceeded to have the nastiest sex you've had in a long time, right? You called her "Sarah", and she used words they don't use in god fearin' Alaska and ...

uh ... um ... I'll go stand in the corner now, my bad.

I've forgotten women I dated 20 years ago.

Too busy focusing on rugby tours, perhaps.. :)

No, that was 27 years ago, when I was out most Saturdays, marching against the Tour, alongside women so staunch I wouldn't dare have asked "Is that a breastplate under your jumper, or are you just pleased to see me?"

or "Maybe after the march we could go back to my place for a little baton charge of our own"

or "I know you want me, your nipples are harder than Ross Meurant's PR 24"
