I know a few guys who are capable of demonstrating a one inch punch, if you're keen.
Oddly enough I just remembered an episode in High School where I unknowingly did something resembling a one inch punch. I punched a window at lunchtime (long story). I broke the glass without cutting my hand, and the glass shattered in all directions throughout the classroom (I was outside).
But those utube clips of the 1" punch still remind me of the fist fights in the old cowboy movies.

There was a piece on Al Jazeera last night ... about a guy who spent five years in jail after he was arrested at Tiananmen in 1989. He was back in the square being interviewed again and he was a huge supporter of the Olympics and he doesn't seem to be out of step with Chinese opinion.
I accept the thrust of your comments Simon, but the skeptic in me also wonders if after 5 years in jail he came out 're-educated'? And the cynic in me wonders if he was in at all. Is it possible he's just a Govt actor presented to a guilable media? Mind you, I find AJ to be a pretty reliable news organisation.

Until someone can source the video link let me paraphrase the highlight (for me) of the Opening Ceremony commentary:
There is a stunning display of fireworks. Keith Quinn points out that the Chinese invented fireworks (a theme for the Opening Ceremony ie China highlighting it's acheivements over the past 8 centuries). Sophie Zhang (there to offer a Chinese insight) points out that before fireworks the Chinese first invented gunpowder, which due to her accent she pronounces 'gunpower'.
'Gunpowder' corrects Quinn.
[pause]
'Gunpowder' says Zhang.
[pause]
And then on with the blather. I noticed that by the end of the ceremony Zhang seemed to have decided to STFU. -
The One inch punch is a skill which uses fa jing (translated as explosive power) to generate tremendous amounts of impact force at extremely close distances.
It also helps if your opponent will kindly throw themselves backwards into the chair conveniently located behind.

I found it rather amusing to see Duncan Garner and Selwyn Manning quoted in the SST saying 1) Neither of them would covertly tape a politician themselves, but they're quite happy if others do it for them.
Aha, so they outsourced it to some Syrian journalists then ...
