The whole thing is ridiculous. Key refused to sack Collins for several acts of corrupt behaviour that had her dabs all over em, but he flicks her for an issue where she is involved 3rd hand & circumspectly?
C’mon give me a break.It’s not like this hasn’t been suggested by several commentators already. Even Patrick Gower is essentially saying this.
("Right wing jack up" I think he called it.)

... Slater pretty much gives away that Cathy Odgers is the redacted name in the email. Apparently the PM gave some indication that the redaction was to protect his source. That suggests Cathy and Cam might be having a falling out sometime soon, yeah?

I'd like to think so. But Key and National have a problem here: they went so hard with the "nothing to see here" and "dissolving before his eyes" response to Hager's book, that Key is not really in a position to back down much at all, let alone concede such a huge blow as dumping a Minister. It would undermine the very argument that they've been making. This is why he was so reluctant to even criticise her at all - the "unwise" characterisation was very begrudging. Unless there's something else wrt Collins, I'd be very surprised if they don't charge on regardless.

Nothing. I was just saying my take on du Plessis-Allan’s use of ‘allegedly’ was not the same as DeepRed’s, i.e. I don’t think it was meant to sound dismissive of the book per se.

That's good. And yeah I had seen that 20 minute grilling on 3 news on demand. It was heartening after the relatively poor performance by Espinar in interviewing Joyce on National radio (who then bizarrely became really tenacious when interviewing Cunliffe immediately afterwards).
