I don't think anyone is proposing that we adopt US gun laws.
oh totally.
after reading James Bremner's posts (and seeing that top gear episode!), it makes me wonder if there'd be much less gun ownership if there was less inequality and fear in the southern states. i must admit, if i felt my family was in danger, i'd be looking at forms of protection. although, unless you can deflect bullets with a handgun, you better be prepared to shoot someone as a form of defence. which kind of adds to the whole atmosphere of fear doesn't it
and that was why i was feeling smug about living here in NZ, where i don't have to worry about other people with concealed handguns

Want to feel really smug and superior? Read some of the American respondents to the Heraldss gun control editorial.
i don't know who said it, but people do tend to get the governments they deserve (probably a bit of a harsh comment for your average sudanese, iraqi or rwandan, i know).
those moronic middle americans can keep their stupid gun laws. i'm happy i'm living in a country run by people with some sense and perspective

setting someone up for firing
you reckon? he seems like a bit of an institution at the herald

garth george's column has been fairly well slammed by its online readers:
NZ Herald - Your Views
thank god (!) for that - i was getting the impression that all kiwis were greedy selfish pricks like him -
although reading an interview with that guy cheers me up

Was it Massive Attack or Radiohead that did a gig mid-90's at Alexandra Park Racecourse?
in 1998 i saw radiohead at the greenlane expo centre (read: big tin shed). i was expecting it to sound like a tin shed but it was actually really good.
oh yeah, ben harper and brad, at the auckland town hall in 1998. that was great. damn, shawn smith can sing

totally agree with your comments about mt smart and the logan campbell centre.
on a positive note, i always quite enjoy seeing gigs at the st james. and i'm going to kasabian at studio on thursday. i haven't been there before but it looks great on the website. two bars you say?

i'm probably just being naive here, but what exactly does the newmarket business association achieve by attacking the reserve bank?

When I control all the keyboards in the world, people who put two spaces after full stops will be hit on the head with the automatedrubber mallet attached to their monitor.
damn this website! it removes all my double spaces! double spaces are the proper way to type. my 3rd form keyboarding teacher would have words with you, young man!
