  • Hard News: Compromise,

are you right handed or left handed? I'd imagine that's been enough "disciples" to sustain you in life thus far ....

    Ouch! Truce?

I was just trying to make the point that Tamaki does not deserve to be called a Bishop. Titles are important, because they indicate a level of societal respect, and people like Brian Tamaki, myself and Idi Amin are just taking the piss, by illegitimately glorifying themselves. Maybe his flock voted him up to Bishopness. It doesn't matter; they just do whatever he tells them to anyway.

Thanks to Riddley for supporting my fledgling megalomania (knew I could count on you), but I think I'll give up the whole bogus religious leader thing. Not worth the hassle, mate. Bloody tall poppy syndrome.

    SG,
8 Arms To Hold You kicked ass. All killer, no filler. I was never into the late '80s/early '90s dance club thing, but with records like that, those early to mid-80s school discoes were really a scene, man. I seem to remember that the images on the sleeve looked like they were ripped straight off the VHS. Is that the case?

  • Hard News: Compromise,

I would be happy to call you such, but only if you have been thusly ordained by your disciples. If you've annointed yourself then thou art a demigogue ..

Please advise how many disciples I'll need before you will bow down to my new title, as you do Tamaki's. Christ only had 12; I reckon I could get that by the weekend.

    Nobody Important,

In accordance with your policy regarding titles, you must henceforth address me only as His Royal Highness the Right Honourable Lord 3410 the Magnificent.

But seriously... These Destiny Church creeps are dangerous Authoritarian drones. Now Tamaki's going around like some kind of representative of the people, and even the Leader of the Opposition consults with him. I'm with DC. No credence given to post-MC Hammer churches.

The rapper, not the Mitre10 mascot.

  • Hard News: Compromise,

There are opinion pieces today criticising John Key for forgetting that the Opposition's job is to oppose.

I can't help thinking that he's Machiavellianistically positioning himself with 'mainstream New Zealanders' (read: swing voters) as a 'reasonable' guy. Now he can request 'compromise' or 'co-operation' on any policy he likes, and if he doesn't get it Labour looks like churlish hypocrites.

  • Hard News: Compromise,

If that's your objection, you ought to have been agin the bill from the start, because that was always the case with Sue Bradford's bill.

I was, but I copped so much negativaty that I just shut up about it pretty quickly.

Oh. I guess Craig sort of already said that, though more eloquently.

It does tend to make one despair watching everyone congratulate themselves for having done such a great job resolving the standoff, when all they've done is end up with legislation that is, IMO worse than the original.

  • Hard News: Compromise,

As I see it, the only meaningful difference between the old law and the new law is that we've shifted the responsibility for deciding whether a conviction is justified from juries to cops.

I call that a backwards step.

Well, it's very easy to set fire to a newspaper; there's no denying it.

I too just want to thank you guys for your blogging contributions during the Cup. It's a pity the comments threads were so sparsely attended, but whatever.

    See you in '11!

If you have to break a wrist make sure you do them individually and not simultaneously. Having two arms in plaster can make certain areas of personal hygiene rather challenging.

You said a mouthful, brother. In '81 I was being chased around the classroom by a bully. I leapt up onto desks and then out the window (the room being about 4 or 5 steps above ground level). However, one of my Trek-laces caught in the aluminium joinery, rapidly converting me from a mainly forward momentum to a mainly downwards head first momentum, which was ended by a hands-first landing on concrete. Cue four weeks of "difficult personal hygiene".
