I hope this discussion is not putting you men off going to your prostate checks.

Mikaere - it's bound to be in wikipedia (sorry in haste). Can be very painful even if main procedure done under general. Can also be associated with grief unlike vasectomy which is basically a positive experience.
-
In Wellington they do the vasectomies on Friday afternoon so the poor men have the weekend to recover. I hear that sometimes their wives ask for it to be done without anaesthetic.
Otherwise unimpressed. Try pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, D and C, cone biopsies, smear tests etc etc.

Russell - There also seems to be the pattern for the fortunate Aspie of a parent who realised her child was different but talented, and nurtured that.
I quite like the way Aspergers seems to be quietly shaping the modern world.

It seems to me, after observing Assange for a while and confirmed by so many of the indicators in that interview Mark links to above, that here is a case of Aspergers. A brilliant hacker, unusual relationships with people, inability to read social cues, doing the logical but not always advisable thing, infuriating his supporters. Supremely confident that he is right but a bit paranoid. Puzzled by the fall out.

Mentioning lamingtons. If you are ever travelling from Whanganui to Taranaki stop at the Windermere berry farm not far out of Whanganui, where there is a new cafe which not only makes wonderful fresh berry icecreams, but the lamingtons also have just picked boysenberries in them (but probably only in season). The coffee is not bad either.

Just had a strange sensory flashback to my childhood - while reading this busy indulgent thread - of my father (who never cooked) grinding up coffee beans which my mother bought in paper bags from Faggs in Cuba Street (they weighed them out for you), and making coffee on the stove in one of those metal perculators which unscrews in the middle. I can smell it and hear it gurgling and hissing. Then it was poured into cute little black expresso cups with coloured saucers, for dinner guests. Must have been early 60s.

The other Camp Quality photo in the Dom Post this morning has him positioned (without clown suit) beneath a cross on the school hall wall. That is a the one we will probably see repeated this year.
-
Key is instead at a photo op at Camp Quality (for cancer kids) dressed as Dodgy the clown. Bizarre.

I was actually on the footpath under the tree (and sheltering from the rain) about two metres away from you. Attempted to take a photo on my cell phone, but like my recent one of Rodney Hide,it didn't turn out very well.
