"Going up against the French ... you'll need a stiff one"

    that's gotta be a winner!

I think McAlister went for the dropgoal because the ref had his arm out for advantage. We should've just dropped the ball and given Evans the chance to slot it over.

Agree on both points. I'm not sure what advantage accrued to and expected the ABs to have the option of a scrum or kick?

  • Speaker: Quantum Competition,

Gagh... I really hoped the AB's would win, because smug and jingoistic media commentary is marginally less obnoxious than bitter and bitchy.

    Oh the irony!

Must stop looking at those clips. The more I look at the sin-binning and the forward pass, the less philosophical I feel ...

I think I'm experiencing reverse grief - from acceptance to anger and depression in a matter of hours...

<Paul Waite at Haka is incandescent about the refereeing performance. You have to wonder about the wisdom of giving a game like this to a guy in his third year of professional refereeing.</quote>

Waite's often incandescent although I agree he probably shouldn't have been appointed to such a game.

And, yup, it does make it harder to swallow that the game turned on two serious refereeing blunders.

I'd have said one serious and one dubious but that's just quibbling... totally agree with you about Williams, he played his best game - Evans looked good too (for as long as he was on the park) and Howlett's is another who might have made a difference...

I thought Henry had done everything pretty much right, though was nervous about the Centres. He'll get moved on for sure but who next? Deans?

I think I owe Stephen Jones an apology. Turns out the prick was right all along.

Oh hell, I'd not thought about the sneering reaction these results will provoke.

Apart from anything else, my sympathies are with each and every member of the All Black team, including the coaches. Their disappointment will be immense.
