The gouts of fire were particularly impressive given the presumed cost of all the gas they'd need to fuel them, and the contrast of flying back into a Wellington with all the lights switched off. Conspicuous power consumption.
Maybe there's a subterranean battery pig farm below the casino.

There was a point at which the doctor's voice receded, becoming inaudible under a white sea of shock. He was telling us quite important things, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't hear a word he said.

BTW - I see very few bees in Wellington - but a lot in Otaki - a few years ago it was all wasps, now they seem to have been supplanted by the bees.

I was in a gym once actually (visiting the old schoolfriend who owned it). He got me on the device that looked like a bike, kind of, and set me off.
Afterwards he very grudgingly admitted I was quite fit for my age - the stress very much on the "for my age".
I'd just returned from a big cycle trip actually, if he'd caught me a month before he really could have gloated.
