I used to work at DKD circa 1990 baking cakes
You made that chocolate cherry gateau? Retroactively: thank you!Thank you! I knew I was helping to make a lot of people happy, and Darryl and Andrew were fine employers. Darryl taught me how to make the cakes.

Has anybody in London tried the cafe at Scooterworks in SE 1? http://www.scooterworks-uk.com/#
This is managed by a friend of mine Craig, and while I have never been there (I left the UK before it opened), I used to flat with the guy in Peckham and he made a mean coffee. He also imports coffee machines from Italy, the original type with handles, not buttons, as operated at DKD all those years back. -
I used to work at DKD circa 1990 baking cakes, and it was an oasis to me, but does anybody else remember Blondies Cafe or the Island of Real? I used to frequent those places during the early eighties, and yes, let's not forget John's Diner. Chocolate Revenge on the menu and Heroes in German on the jukebox... Brilliant.

No but really. I feel that my male vs female comment was misinterpreted. Why does it feel that the basis of this discussion for quite some hours now, seems to be gender-split? What if the *bitch* had broken "veitchy's" spine? Or fractured it or whatever?

Um... am I just imagining this, or has this degenerated (last night actually) into a female vs male viewpoint?
How can that be?

That was very intense reading last night, but thanks Russell for deciding to leave the discussion up.
Was trying to find this yesterday, because the argument about the finer points of the meaning of lynching reminded me of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reductio_ad_hitlerum
I need to figure out how to link...

Awww. Congratulations.
I have had the fortune to discover the Public Address site recently, and at the same party last Fri night where I spoke briefly to Russell - "love your work", etc - I FOOSH. That's what the discharge papers said, and apparently that means Fell On Out Stretched Hand.
So, I am recuperating from my broken wrist with company from my laptop, and indeed, I love your work.
Cheers.
