  • Hard News: Blog About Cat,

We had Ghost Cat floating around here when we first moved into Immoral Terrace, who haunted us nonstop for a couple of days (flatmates who had enjoyed a herbal cigarette or two found it quite strange to be woken up to a licking) but Ghost Cat has gone now, hopefully to a better place. Which is apparently Pt Chev. That's a long way away.

  • Hard News: Chicken soup,

If you were in Wellington I would make you chicken soup, but instead I will just tell you to get some Shott ginger lemon and honey syrup, and mix that with hot water and oh, I'm pretty sure you will have some whiskey in the house. That will fix you.

  • Radiation: Lost on Internet Island,

And if "Community" is going to air here, I need another good US sitcom, and have only heard good things about this show.

Oh man, I could talk up Community all day! It's just got better and better as it goes along. Especially when Joel McHale takes off his clothes. I am gutted that all the US shows I watch are now having their season finales and I will be left all alone over the cold cold winter.

  • Radiation: Lost on Internet Island,

Oh man, Justified is so awesome. It's so slow-moving, but the characters are fantastic, and it always makes me hungry for some reason and I love all the Deadwood reunions, like with the prisoner holed up in the office of the marshals. Plus, oh yes, there's that little thing about the astonishing attractiveness of Timothy Olyphant and his amaaaaaaaazing chemistry with the leading lady. Raaaaaaaaaowwww.

  • Hard News: We invented everything,

I might be wrong -- and Lord knows I seem to have been multiply wrong in the the original post -- but wasn't that actually Flatmates? My memory is that Ihug was involved and doing the streams.

Flatmates was a show that screened when TV4 started, which went for two seasons. It was filmed by a guy called Craig (I think) who lived in the house along with the flatmates. Highlights of the first season included a trip to the Miss Howick pagent because one of the flatmates competed, and also Craig falling for a flatmate called Vanessa who played ultimate frisbee and seemed quite cool at first, but then she shaved her head and went a bit psycho.During one of their parties, the toilet got broken. Series two featured a Christian couple who had an engagement party where Deep Obsession's "Lost in Love" played quite a lot, and also a girl who was called Jessie I think, who spent a lot of time chatting on the internet to a guy in Alaska she'd never met, who sent her an engagement ring in the mail. I wonder if they're still together.

Kiwi Flatmates meanwhile was first a website, modeled on the Dutch Big Brother show, which wanted you to pay for access to shower cams - even though there was almost no broadband at the time, and yes, it got "hacked". They screened a TV version of it later, that included highlights like Joe Cotton coming to dinner in an attempt to make things more interesting.

Oh yes, I know far too much about television...

  • Up Front: You Never Forget Your First,

And I was even more impressed after seeing Catherine Tate on Never Mind the Buzzcocks and wanting to kill her quite, quite dead.

I feel like this is an appropriate time to join in to say that the only reason I am now planning on watching the new-ish seasons of Dr Who is because ohmyholyfrickingshit David Tennant was hot as the host of that one Buzzcocks episode. I suppose I should refrain from comparing him to one of the Cactus Lab boys...
