Watching and disseminating kiddie porn is illegal because of the (alleged) effects it has on the viewers
No it is not. It is illegal because it is considered objectionable.
Effects that aren't "alleged" are those of the people convicted for owning things like the Simpsons cartoons, or teenagers convicted for taking photographs of themselves, or people who wrote stories in which the age of the participants was unclear.
Have any of these cases occurred in New Zealand? I think not.
So... watching lolicon turns a 'normal' person into a paedophile?
The 'it's OK because it's hentai' defence is especially lame. If it depicts children in sexual activity, it is objectionable, regardless of how cool the genre might be.

The allegation that all private schools exist to make money is ridiculous. Some newer establishments might make profits but most do not not have an owner: they have a governing body; there are no shareholders and the profits go into the school. Of course they still help maintain social privilege, but that is another matter.
I too speak as a privately-educated, posh, pom; and of course I speak very well.

True Story. His horse (Hine) still goes inside. That was where we got our dog from.
The mind boggles.

The full horror of the Super City is revealed in the FAQ:
What work will the new Auckland Council do and where might the logo be used?
The new council will be responsible for things like policy and regulatory work, dog and noise control, parks, community facilities (halls, libraries, swimming pools etc), rubbish collection and recycling, building and resource consents, and local events.
Dog and noise control... it hardly seems worth hiring a professional; just get some kid to knock up something in MS Paint.

Given Telecom's recent woes, the design seems peculiarly apt: a symbol of a messed-up network. But it is clearly the work of a designer, just as Auckland's hideous logo clearly is the work of an amateur.

Do they still have Jane Ussher?
No. They like stock photography now, usually actors in exaggerated poses.

I have just looked at my watch and it is now almost March, 2010. The ninety-seven million dollar solution is not going to happen, not by 9 September 2011.
In any case, it is not much of an option. The project started with that nice Mr Key wittering about Party Central. Then the previously-unnoticed need for a cruise-ship terminal suddenly appeared. Then people got upset about the sheds, ugly bits of wood held together with tin. Then there was a bizarre competition, in which drawings in crayon by primary school children competed against ArchiCAD renditions by leading architects. Then the competition was ignored, and Jasmax and Architectus were invited to do another design.
The original muddled brief was forgotten. We have never been given the opportunity for a proper competition, because nobody really knows what is required. We have no way of knowing whether a terminal/central combo will cost 97kk.
All the while, the requirement to strengthen the wharf, which itself costs time and money, was being ignored.
Now it seems that Auckland cannot cope with the accommodation needs, so we will need to have prison hulks tied up against the wharf.
When will it end?

Why, Sportsfans, did the IRB insist on Auckland, when both Christchurch and Wellington have modern stadiums?

Landlords have multiple votes, yes.
No representation without taxation is the eventual aim of the municipal right.
