  • Hard News: A Taxonomy of Poo,

And here was me thinking at last someone is blogging the Bristol Stool Chart

I gwad, I looked and as I fell about laughing my office colleagues came to investigate the cause of amusement...

  • Hard News: A Taxonomy of Poo,

The guy on the right is supposed to be Redbaiter, right?

Really? Is this speculation or local knowledge? For a long time I wondered if Red wasn't David's alter-ego.

So, its not that people are outraged by a serious assault, no, its just "tall poppy syndrome". These people are utterly demented.

And the appalling irony is that he's clearly guilty of the very crime he accuses others of; using the assault to make political capital. What a wanker.

  • Hard News: A Taxonomy of Poo,

As far as I'm concerned, that's the NBR Godwining themselves.

    Nice work.

  • Hard News: A Taxonomy of Poo,

    Peter I know nothing about.

He was a radical at Waikato Uni - involved in what was Nexus and apparently a hard-core hippy (I believe)

  • Hard News: A Taxonomy of Poo,

Stoddard's essay hurt my brain on many levels. I'm sure it's targets will simply dismiss it as yet another example of the hegemony defending itself (Stoddard's brief examination of the right-wing hate blogs probably dissauded further examination; the briefest sampling of kiwiblog would be overwhelming).

I've to send it on to someone I know in Julia Gillard's staff, she'll face precisely the same shit soon enough.

  • Hard News: Relieving Ambiguity,

I am an established writer. I've brought a lot of business into Aotearoa-NZ. I earn less than the average wage and I resent bureaucrats & academics using what I do, and have done, to live fatly whilst me & mine - dont.

Can you elaborate Islander - I know nothing about this arrangement and am curious about how it works, badly or otherwise.

  • Hard News: So far from trivial,

Perigo's quote about the extraordinary level of talent it takes.

<declaration of familial links> My sister-in-law used to read the news with Perigo, she had/has a very favourable impression of him... as did I until I heard what he personally thinks, now I think he's a twerp (reinforced by his idiotic comments about Veitch) but I know doing TV news is no walk-in-the-park.</declaration of familial links>. As an aside, isn't Broadcast News a great show (great cast particularly).

  • Hard News: So far from trivial,

I'll do it here. Because seriously, how much "exceptional talent" would it take? Isn't it just a matter of being presentable, flashing the right smile, not getting the score wrong too often?

As funny as I really did find you point ... it's possibly a little harsh... good television journalists/presenters aren't plentiful because it's harder than it looks... we don't really need to slag the profession just 'cause it turns out Veitch is a thug do we... for me it just goes to show that abusers don't conform to any stereotype.

  • Hard News: Relieving Ambiguity,

It would be useful if people differentiate between what Kiwiblog says (which most would take as a reference to what I say) and what Kiwiblog commenters say.

David, generally you take a predictably moderate position on many issues but, somehow, many of your commenters are extreme, abusive and intolerant (left and right). I wonder how you've ended up in this odd position, do you have a view? You've certainly got lots of traffic, so you can't read/edit everything, but do you not worry that many of your threads degenerate at a remarkable rate?
