Education about consent should be a part of the NZ school curriculum. That's an obvious, concrete goal we could all have.

Culture never stands still, and unfortunately misogyny is a many-headed beast.
Like racism, ageism, heterosexism etc etc I think we have to go on fighting it in all its many forms. If we don't constantly fight for equality, it can slip further away than ever. The same goes for liberty and democracy -- we always have to fight for them, as there are always forces working to take them away.

Thank you to John and the others involved in this event. A positive demonstration is always a good thing. Hope you all have a great night .

I’d love it if some of the great dudes here could organise a strategy between yourselves for some non-violent support for women at the next gig you go to.
Dan Clemerson-Phillips is doing that via Twitter for the legalise-rape arseholes. A posse of feminist men. I get that one dude, especially unprepared, may find it hard to intervene. So organise.

I wasn’t there, so I don’t know how visible and proactive security were, but when people get visibly slung out for being antisocial, it sends a message.
That does already happen.
You know what I would do, if it were my festival? Music stops until the antisocial ones get ejected. Use the displeasure of the crowd.
Not much fun for the performers, but hopefully it wouldn't take many halts for the crowd to be self-policing.

US citizens specifically "pledge allegiance to the flag", not merely to what the flag represents. While NZ soldiers have fought under our current flag, AFAIK it's understood as being a symbol, not an entity in itself.
Maybe it's time for some Pete Seeger.

Wellington court case – including footage – results in no conviction for off-duty bus driver using his suv as a weapon against cyclist
The video, which Simeon claimed was edited, shows Simeon driving up close behind Emet on Kent Tce, before tooting at him to get out of the way.
Simeon then moved into Emet's path of travel, swerved and connected with Emet.
That is terrifying. Not only did this professional driver not think the cyclist had a right to the lane, he seems to think it was OK to hit him with his SUV. How can it be all right to intentionally hit an unprotected human being with a multi-tonne vehicle, even if that human being is in the wrong?
