  • Up Front: Five,

NB: The Art Of Recovery is on TV One tonight (Tuesday) at 9.30pm

Peter Young’s lively, beautifully illustrated documentary… leaves us hoping against hope that the new city can be infused with some measure of the resurgent spirit, creativity and pride of community ownership so lovingly documented in his film.

Wonder what kid of flag related 'dead cats' will be thrown into the pre-voting debate?
...and who will throw the first one?

Answers on the back of an envelope please.

I borrowed this old envelope off Bill English so sorry, he may not be able to work out the budget this year, what with the drop in mail volume and NZ Post's poor performance, old envelopes are getting hard to find...

These vile 'commenters' strike me as the provocateur types who wear the V for Vendetta Guy Fawkes masks and like to break windows and property and turn demonstrations into confrontations - no political intent, just personal jollies, IMHO.

    as above, so below...
Just in case anyone was wondering what happened to Warwick Isaacs (he who led the CCDU for the Government) he left on a high after overseeing a 100 day blueprint for the city to 'run' Stonewood Homes - who you'd think would be on to a good thing in Chchch, at least - not so...

Stonewood Homes New Zealand Limited is in receivership at the request of the companies' director, KordaMentha says.
Grant Graham and Neale Jackson of KordaMentha have been appointed as receivers to the company , and sister companies Stonewood Homes Ltd and Sterling Homes (Christchurch) Ltd.
Stonewood Homes NZ is the master franchisor for the Stonewood Homes network.
Stonewood Homes Ltd holds the Stonewood franchise for Christchurch. It is one of Canterbury's biggest home builders.
Stonewood's Hamilton franchise went into liquidation on January 13, owing $1.46 million to creditors. The company's Marlborough branch went into liquidation last year owing more than $1m.

So I guess he ran Stonewood as well as he ran the CCDU...

It appears we have a city where you can't even make hay when the sun shines!

    NOOOOOOOOO!
Story just did a fatuous hatchet job on Napier's seaside viewing platform cum stormwater outfall camouflage - Jeez these people are shallow, mugging it up by a Napier sign - going 'Na Pier Na Pier No Pier!' - this is what you do when you don't have a story.
The council never touted it as a pier - and then Duplessis-Allen goes and 'whats more it's not even connected to the stormwater system yet (smirk smirk)' - don't worry about looking anything up Heather, it will be connected.
I personally think it is a wonderful construction at the right scale to its surroundings and not ridiculously expensive as a proper pier would have been - an they should be grateful you can't fish off it as that fraternity has ruined the Chchch pier as an attraction...
    - that's it for me with TV3's attempts at news - they're just bullies and dickheads.

    grrrrr

PS: the story they actually missed was that it is already being hammered by the sea and taken a level of damage it would appear they hadn't allowed for.

Christ almighty - just watching Story and just realised how dim Heather Duplessis-Allan is - they are driving towards New Brighton via New Brighton road and she's all - "You mean there were houses here? That's unbelievable"
    - Good God woman have you paid any attention over the last 5 years to what has happened in Chchch?

    I give up....

New wrapping for the same contents...
I still can't see any point in changing nothing but the flag?
It will still represent the same system, change that and then you have a reason to change the flag - don't just change it because John Key no longer likes it.

But he does like half doing things badly, as we in Chchch can testify,
and this is all he has to say about that:
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/77120618/john-key-outlines-christchurch-quake-damage-issues

"If you look at it, there's just about three or four things that need to be resolved," Key said.
"No, not all are government's issue, but the convention centre has to get resolved, so does the metro sports centre."

    and here:
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/business/the-rebuild/77135805/john-key-talks-insurance-claims-and-convention-centre-on-quake-anniversary

The New Zealand Council for Infrastructure Development had criticised the convention centre project, saying it was not a competitive process and the Government was unclear about its scope and budget.
"That's a cheery assessment from them," Key said in response.
"The challenge for the Government is making sure we get value for money – it's about the ongoing running of the convention centre and making sure it's fit for purpose."
If the process was rushed the city could end up with something that was not to the right scale or that taxpayers had paid too much for, Key said.

    The man is well deluded...

I read the news today, oh boy…
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/music/gig-reviews/77104624/review-raggamuffin-2016-a-night-of-noshows-rejigs-and-reggae

Raggamuffin organisers must be dreaming if they’d thought The Game would get through NZ Customs unquestioned – despite promoters lying to punters telling them the rapper had missed his flight from Dubai (something you’d think they’d have known at least 17 hours earlier than his performance slot) transpires he was stopped at NZ Customs, and promoters knew, but chose not to tell punters until 5pm Saturday.
I wonder if all the pictures of marijuana joints and buds on his instagram page helped his cause any?
And really, what hope for the later NZ dates they’ve ‘promised’ then?

The Stuff reporter/reviewer (Ashley Ropati), despite I assume free tickets and publicity hand outs, still can’t even spell the acts and festival correctly:
Ragamuffin instead of Raggamuffin (2nd-to-last paragraph)
Macey Gray instead of Macy Gray
See-Lo Green instead of CeeLo Green
(and I wouldn’t strictly call CeeLo’s cancelling in October ’a late no-show’ either)

they also write about a situation being ‘diffused’ – aaaargh!!!
