Hard News: UNGASS and the "Drug Free…, in reply to
I’d like to think some of the people abusing Dunne have bothered to read the National Drug Policy, but I’m not confident that’s the case.
Much like on Stuff and masthead sites (and elsewhere) – many ignore the article (or maybe just the headline and first para get parsed) and leap straight in to the commentariat flow…

Coals to Newcastle...
I suspect it has been very deeply buried along with UNDCP itself.

polls are usually pretty accurate
Flag polls - give 'em a halyard and they'll take a mile...

Also, if anyone can find that UNGASS 1998 promo video
this isn't from the UN but references that campaign
... as the quest continues, try these little ditties and aother gleanings...
...though I suspect they may have made people want to take drugs just to avoid watching them!and try these 'worst' Anti Drug ads

Speaker: Correcting Auckland 2040's…, in reply to
You seem to be happy to fund a 3 billion plus desalination plant at some time, it seems.
Probably better it is state owned than paying market rates for privately owned desalinated water in the future... needs must!
I noticed in The Big Short that one of the key players now only invests in water related enterprises, and here in Chchch we are still denied any democratic input to Ecan's governance of our water resources, but in a sop to their Treaty obligations the Government has guaranteed Ngai Tahu two seats on the regional council.

frond memories...
Starry Fern wins
Makes me think of the reality of shortland Street as shorthand for NZ - surely their flag would be a 'Red Fern'

Wow, that was really, really great.
One comment that got to me and summed up what's happening here was along the lines of: 'The Government didn't want temporary or transitional things in case we liked them too much!"
They have never cared about our mental health one jot...

Kid of Flag? Is that John Key?…
Doh! – ‘Kind’
Now I see what happens when proofreaders with pudgy digits go bad…
I also see that the orchestrated ‘Vote For Change’ campaign is signed off by Lewis Holden, who was also the campaign chair of the New Zealand Republic Inc organisation from 2006-2013.
I’d imagine there were some deep pockets amongst their members and supporters. -
(not) Far from the madding K'road...
When I was at Rip It Up I had a tiny studio space overlooking K' Road two floors above a fashion shop (Paulls I think) near the Queen Street intersection, and we had a flying Nun stock storage space the same size on the floor below that Chris used, (nestled amidst a crowd of unused shop dummies) - I hardly ever got anything done, it was too fascinating watching the street unfold below....
and it was great to have somewhere to lurch to from Mainstreet before going home to Grey Lynn...
