Strangely for me this has largely been a year without much new music - I used to buy a lot, wandering through record stores and buying actual CDs - something like 1 in 10 makes it to my mental play list - but Dunedin lost that sort of record store after RG bought them all up and then collapsed, all I get is the occasional wander thru Rasputin's/Amoeba and that's a little too far for a weekly wander - iTunes is useless for us linux people and I don't download stuff I haven't paid for - I'm annoyed and frustrated and without a sound track.

Take the drive to Jacksons Bay, a couple of hours, and fish off the wharf - don't forget the insect repellent.
Of course you haven't really lived there until you've spent a winter in Wanaka - or Hawea in my case - where I retired to write my thesis during a hoar frost/freezing fog that lasted 2 weeks - the water froze up on the second day and on the fourth I ran out of coal for the pot belly - by then the locals had already bought out the entire local supply and I retired to my sleeping bag - have fun learning to drive on ice, just for interest can we know which part of Wanaka to avoid those first few weeks of winter?

2009 was a sucky year I've spent way too much of it on the road. Friends have passed away too young, others have been struck with cancer - we declared it over a month ago, roll on the new year

Islander: I know - but I still have twinges for that unconditional love that is no more, and went away so suddenly

Oh Brent are you in for a let down - any day now they're going to push you away, you want to hug them and they're too big for that - it's the start of them becoming adults and it breaks your heart partly because it all happens so suddenly, leaving you wistfully looking at parents walking hand in hand with their little kids (I found myself doing that today).
At this point I get to announce that my son has just finished high school and my daughter got her drivers license this week - we're no longer needed at all ....

Hmm - "Blow on your pie" hasn't made Know your meme

you still have time to change your name by deed poll and run against him in 9 months ....
back in the day when I worked for a University, state servants got basically 2 weeks paid vacation if they ran for elected office, we had dreams of fielding 40 Rob Muldoons in Tamaki .... -
there - did that change it? or just stop it dead
