  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

Still, threads are for joining, not reading.

    Bite thy tongue.

PA threads contain within their humble origins a quality liberal arts education, scything humour, outrageous analysis, nuanced opinion and all kinds of valuable cultural capital.

    And it's free.

    Ta much all.

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

I feel like this in regard to theirs...

    Ours, not so much.

I'm going to be forced to pay close attention when all I want is to create my life knowing my representatives are informed, compassionate and far-sighted.

And perhaps, just this once, you could allow me my melodrama Mr Ranapia.

Kinda sucks that I have to ask.

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

However, when you look at the top 20 - from which the cabinet positions are likely to come - you can see that diversity clearly gives way to pakeha men who are (or are approaching) middle age.

    Now there's a shock.

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

You might want to take some Eno, give your gut a rest and start using your eyes.

Cos the celebration of ethnic diversity within National is soooo visible right Craig?

In my eyes - and my only bias is a desire for inclusiveness - National are still the party that came in their pants after Brash's Orewa speech. Did I miss a warm and fuzzy flip-flop on that score?

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

I think it speaks volumes of the National party mindset that Key failed to include a single word of Maori in his acceptance speech and then went on to ignore Pita Sharples' role as co-leader of the Maori Party.

In my gut I just can't ignore the sense that we now have a government that doesn't view the NZ population as having any real diversity - a bit like the National caucus itself - and that earnest tokenism will be the order of the day.

The determined creation of wealth, as opposed to the genuine welfare of the populace or the environment, is the ideology we now seem yoked to.

Luckily I'm child-free and staying that way or I'd care a lot more.
