  • Legal Beagle: Voting in the Flag Referendum, in reply to Ian Dalziel,

Otherwise they should all shut up while someone else is speaking

It's very hard to keep quiet when this Government peddles bullshit, when the Speaker allows bullshit, when the PM is one big turd. The Opposition has to shout back in the hope that one journalist may run with the disagreement to the faux answers. The patsy questions that National ask of each other are propaganda for themselves and the Party. There's their advertising again. The Opposition can't even table documents by it's subject without the Speaker shutting it down, thus quelling any interest it may cause, again arms lengthing journalists or listeners from questioning the National party hype machine.
There is disorder in the House though. of which I lay squarely at the feet of the Speaker. He is not doing his job fairly for all in the Chamber. He is selective and biased for the benefit of National but mostly for John Key. I'm sure he knows for what he does. The disorder he created over Key and his repulsive behaviour recently, (there are so many) could have been nipped in the bud but no, the Speaker set out to protect Key. It was at the expense of many politicians. That says the Speaker is biased. He's got to be the worst I've seen.
Nah, robust debate is one of the only ways to catch the Government of the day peddling their lies. It becomes noticeable too when Government Ministers get all upset, the poor dears. That's a dead give away that they are lying. A lot can be gleaned by watching a politician's behaviour and not just listening to the words. Plus I shout at the TV with all the others in the House. I can't be doin' al' that on me own!

  • Legal Beagle: Voting in the Flag Referendum, in reply to linger,

    Firstly to izogi.

I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt that they’re not stupid…

    See, still waiting for ….
Just never happens with Key Inc. Smoke and Mirrors

    What you’re saying there is,
the associative logic of advertising doesn’t work,
because we’re all too smart for it. … Yeah, right.

    +1

  • Legal Beagle: Voting in the Flag Referendum, in reply to Jonathan King,

As much as red peak being added makes the whole process a farce. The entire process has been manipulated one way or another. The Electoral Commission getting all serious warning about spoilt papers being shared seems a tad late to me and as the Edge points out ,do it anyway.
Everything this Government does seems dependent on polls measuring the mood of National Supporters. Why would this be any different? What I find interesting, is the belief that the next thing they do will be genuine, which the public seem so very content to wait for. It just never happens. The arrogance displayed by Key and Carter in the House 2 weeks ago shows the disdain they have for due process or the understanding sorely missing from the day to day running of Parliament and any respect for that. With submissions left out and Christie having choice on the Panel with clear conflicts of interest, and that being ignored after consideration, is in itself a farce. This is an exercise of National's,with their usual manipulation of the truth.I have no doubt of that. John Key wants a new brand. It may as well be a sports logo.

  • Hard News: A cog in the Mediaworks machine, in reply to Russell Brown,

    This is actually outrageous.

Of course it is but par for the course Russell. Are you surprised? The art of the con is lining many self interested pockets, which frankly disgusts me but I'm not surprised. Leopards and spots, dogs and tricks.....

Let’s see if this is a return of Luigi Wewege as this older article notes from Herald, he’s back.

He already has his fingers in many pies

And as often as history shows, excommunication. If everything is strawberry pie, why cant those that leave say anything about the places they come from. The leavers at Gloriavale all seem deeply upset.
Also back in my youth, 60's 70's, peace love dope, "poor" was acceptable. Hippies joined forces. I know my parents had to, to make their business work. A combined effort allowed many to flourish. Today that business still exists and, mum gone, dad is still a hero in his field.
I also know now the freedom they experienced and sexually, and more so, family in the States really did have a freedom sexually. I am happy that my life has been what it is. So where is the line? the line is kids. Kids get to choose when they want to investigate their sexuality. Parents don't get to decide. Even if they think they should or can, kids will find their own moment.

environments for acting on their paedophilia, so would have instantly recognised communes as easy pickings.

And then, how many cults and communes are there of this nature?
