Start with fixed terms, they're really working a jiffy in NSW...

if you subscribe to the belief that The Standard = Labour, Labour supporters in Epsom are being told to vote for the Nats' Richard Worth over Labour's Kate Sutton, for the sake of keeping ACT out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this didn't actually work last time, did it?
I don't subscribe to the Standard = Labour however we shouldn't forget that this tactic has worked in the past. 1996. Bolger encouraged National voters to vote for Act over the National candidate. Not entirely the same, granted, but it proves voters can be mobilised to vote other than for their preferred candidate.

Just to check, nobody thought I was actually commiserating for the Aussies did you?
I wondered Hadyn, but I was prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt. They were lucky not to lose in four days - I thought they would. Next Test will be a great watch. Poor Binga but, he should have stayed at home.

Opps, I meant...
That's all very well Paul, but as the fullback for Canterbury surely you have an opinion on Legbreaks post above?
Oh yeah, play 'em before they hit the pitch mate.
But seriously, for years I thought my middle name, Bryan, was spelt that way 'cause of BG... it's not but... should've known really, he played for Ponsonby, my family played for Otahuhu.

__I don't think it's stink at all that the Aussies lost. Go India!__
I agree, it's hilarious when the Aussie cricket team loses. Almost as amusing as the English team on a night out
I'm loving it... I'll continue loving it right up to the point when NSW spank us...

ACT will hold Epsom, and have at least three MPs (which means Roger).
I foresee two scenarios.
1. Labour manages to hold on, Roger cuts a lonely figure on the opposition backbench, a perverse reincarnation of Rob Muldoon c. 1985.
2. National win, Roger cuts a lonely figure on the government backbench, a perverse reincarnation of himself c. 1988.

Hmmm... 50% of Americans would see through that story. Changing size in response to environmental factors smacks of evolution. Surely NZ rats, like US rats, are sized in accordance with God's plan, independent of the presence or absence of foxes.
Evidence of God's plan would surely mean they were bite-sized and either self-saucing and/or coated in crunchy sugar-goodness?
Ditto Mr Easterbrook.

Given that unbundling the local loop knocked around 20% off Telecom's value in March 2006, how willing would the government be to pass regulations that knock say $100m or 0.77% off the value of its portfolio (1.9% of its NZX portfolio)?
Thanks Paul. For clearly and simply making the point I've been previously strangling.
You'll get some wide boy politician ...
Like the present leader of the Nat's perhaps?

I believe KiwiSaver, rather than the Cullen Fund, will be the eventual ice breaker for the NZX - think of it as sharemarket investment for the non-investor, maybe even the anti-investor as well.
Perhaps you're right, I tend to conflate them and I know I shouldn't. But if you are right, that makes Key's latest change of heart all the more odd, no?
