I'm seriously hoping the Australian's get flogged but I still don't see the Blackcaps being competitive when they get here.
-
Oh there you go now... I'd forgotten it was McGrath. Thanks.
-
The pithy retort that never occurred to Glenn McGrath.
Giovanni, I'm assuming you mean Shane Warne?

Is there a time limit on how long an MP can hold a seat when they're clearly behaving like idiots when they're not allowed to?
Yes: until the Speaker notices.
Which has so far been interpreted in terms of decades, not minutes.

Fantastic, now if I can just get my Minister to use some of this stuff... meh, won't play in Penrith I 'spect.

And speaking of rhetoric, what is the Greek word for what he's doing in that speech? (Apart from logic, I mean). It's a little bit epistrophe, a little bit antithesis... a dollop of procatalepsis... I love it,
I don't know what half these words mean but I know I like it...

Depending on how the poll that counts shakes down, the Maori Party could get better results from the cross benches.
Discuss.
If they're genuinely a centrist party you mean? In the mould of the European centre pivot parties? Perhaps. It's not been a strategy successfully implemented in NZ thus far. I'd've thought NZFirst recent arrangement with Labour was a more likely... but given that that was decried by National, surely they'd never agree?

I'm relieved to see that the Davis interview raised others' ire. I was astounded by the stupidity of the reporter, but more so the editor. WTF. A while back, at a kiwiblogblog far far away, a very astute and calm contributor, redlogix, noted that should National win, the NZHerald had totally neutered itself as an effective critic. I guess that's the price you pay for pursuing the infotainment strategy.
And I also suspect he has received an assurance as to the future of the Families Commission. I've got no problem with that at all.
And neither do I but spare us all the false morality. He's the definition of a political easy-lay (he's certainly got around)

Craig, I knew and liked Mark so you'll get no argument from me. I meant only to point out that the reasonable expectations of local supporters can and has been diverted for "higher purpose".
Incidentally, this statement:
but I can tell you it certainly did long-term damage to the National party organisation (and vote) across Wellington.
shouldn't be in the past tense.
Stephen Franks candidacy, like Blumsky's before is evidence of National's ongoing dysfunction in Wellington Central. Both are simply names... I thought Hekia Parata was a very good candidate, though I'd not have voted for her (tribal me), and from memory she even had genuine links to the party.

I don't know about your inclusion of Laws in that list. Rat cunning he might have, analytical skills he doesn't.
