The only way this will work is if the nation consumes sufficient bread to compound its obesity problem.

Why have chosen to simply regurgitate a press release from the opponents of this, Mr. Slack?

The "eleven slice" number assumes that you eat nothing else but bread to get your dose of vitamin B9.

Practically every Western Country fortifies it bread in this way, including the home of freedom and the conspiracy theory the United States.

  • Field Theory: Pimpin' Ain't Easy,

Not on topic, but here is a funny little story about the Ashes test. I've spent the last few weeks looking after my Mum after she was taken a bit poorly recently, and last night I tuned into the last day of the test to see if the English could hang on. Now, to put it mildly my mother doesn't like cricket.

Mum: "Do we have to watch this"
    Me: "Yes, not for long."
Mum: "I don't mind, i'ts just I think it is so boring."
    Me: "OK"
Mum: "I don't even know who is playing"
    Me: "England and Australia"

    --long silence--

    Mum: "where are they playing?"
    Me: "Cardiff."
Mum: "Do they play there much?"
    Me: "No."
Mum: "Well, I've never watched a single game of cricket. I can't see what anyone see's in it."
    Me: "OK"

    --long silence--

Mum:"I suppose I don't mind a little bit of the cricket they play in the uniforms, is that this?"
Me: "No that's one day cricket"
Mum: "Oh. I don't know the difference."

*Camera cuts briefly to a shot of Ponting.*

Mum: "I can't stand that Ricky Ponting"

  • Hard News: In the nicest possible way,

I am literally not afraid of anyone. You’d have to put a gun in my face, and then it would also have to be a real one for me to start worrying, and even then I’d be working out angles so they wouldn’t do it.

Pffft. Rambo can't even provide for his family.

Regardless of the legality of it all, it is a bad look. The reality is everyone has a general internal moral compass of what sorts of business one thinks it is appropriate for any particular individual to be engaged in. And usually there is a broad agreement about what is and isn't acceptable. Yes, the edges are gray and many made hold dissenting opinions.

But lets face it - we wouldn't be having this discussion if running a brothel wasn't regarded as one step beyond for an athlete aiming to represent his country at the 2012 Olympics. I would have the same general thoughts if he had set up a factory to manufacture AK-47's for legal export to the third world. It just is not right.

Oh - and if he thinks he can run the whole thing like a slightly more serious upmarket nightclub and without getting his hands dirty, then he is dreaming.

Don't worry Logan - the bad boys WILL come knocking.

I just think it is odd that when Tew keeps banging on about how important TV revenue is to the game here the NZRFU is seemingly happy to let - what - twelve? Fourteen? 7.30pm T.V. Slots unfilled at a time of the year when arguably the audience is going to be far more tuned into watching rugby than it will be in February or November.

Those Super 14 players who are not in the All Blacks effectively have been on holiday for all this time.

I think they'd be far, far better off getting rid of the frankly second rate performances we get in the June tests, give the players a holiday for a fortnight (assuming they made the final, otherwise it would be up to a three week break) then getting them all into the Air New Zealand Cup. It would make for far better continuity - we would already be into round four or five of the Air NZ Cup, and players who need game time like McCaw or Rokococo could be playing serious opposition.

That'll be upped soon when the Air NZ Cup and Tri-nations start

I realise that. But it is unforgivable that in February you've got six or seven Super 14 matches on that half the country isn't interested in because it is still the middle of bloody summer and in June/July, when it freezing, gets dark at 5pm and everyone is thinkingl casserole and Montieth's winter ale the T.V. is a prime time wasteland for the follower of rugby union.

The test matches don't fill the demand for content either. One game every week or two isn't enough. There needs to be a quality game every Friday and Saturday at this of year, not in February and March. A bit of imagination is required, how about a NZ Maori vs. Junior All Blacks series or Samoa vs. NZ "A" or North Island vs South Island???

Here is a question. How come, when it finally IS actually cold and wintry outside, the sum total of decent rugby on our screens during prime time weekend viewing slots has been three games since the end of May?

Doing a Brash and pandering to the racists is taking a tremendous gamble

It seems to me though the mummy at the feast of this glorious new dawn of race relaions is going to be the great unwashed Pakeha mob.

The repeal of the Act is surely good law. At the moment it also seems like good politics.

    really?

Doesn't that depend on the beltway political class creating a consensus to shut down the debate? What if Labour were to pick this up and rabble rouse for all its worth? And why shouldn't they? If they don't, one Winston Peters certainly will. Why let him vacuum up the 10% of votes there are in this issue if you play the cards properly?

As Chris Trotter points out - on this issue power is lying in the gutter, but who will pick it up?

And besides, getting teh anger going in talkback land would bring a certain cosmic justice to the Kiwi/Iwi crowd currently in power.

WTF was he supposed to say?

I don't know, ummm... possibly not Adolf Hitler? Just throwing it out there.

As for that low life Mosley, I am not condemning his sexual preferences, except where that it CLEARLY relates to his personal views. He can sub or dom in whatever way takes his fancy, the only reason I got it wrong is because I don't care for the man and couldn't be bothered with being more accurate. The fact that he like to play the sub just makes it little bit more pathetic in my eyes.

The whole organisation frankly reeks of unreconstructed Nazism, something for which I choose to take personally.
