The future doesn't have a keyboard. I am very disappointed in you, future!
I think lack of keyboard on a machine is an indication about how we've failed to communicate properly with our machines. It's somewhat bizarre that we learn a special skill simply to convert our thoughts to letters on a computer when we can all talk fine. There was an uproar when macs didn't provide disk drives with iMacs as well.

I just want to take the time to say that I'm abandoning my umpteen responsibilities next week, driving 5 hours north to see the goddam pixies. And then driving back again the next day.
And I expect it to be awesome.

with baby 1 if they drop something you sterilize it before letting them at it again
with baby 2 you run it under hot water
with baby 3 you get the dog to lick it clean
A friend who had their first baby about 8 months ago posted on facebook asking if their friends washed all their toys weekly with bleach, or just hot water.
I was astounded by the number of responses (almost all north american I think) saying that they washed with bleach regularly because the toys went in the kids mouth, and they might share with other kids.
It was quite bizarre. I'm not sure if I ever washed my kids toys, maybe if they got actual dirt on them I would have.

Can the public expect a loud and co-ordinated union campaign of opposition, as happened with the Employment Contracts Act in 1991? Or even a general strike?
Has the law changed? My understanding is that general strikes are illegal. You can only take industrial action in pursuit of a pay claim to which you are a party. Union officials argue against general strikes when members raise them.

The list of people that are like Chris Knox, probably isn't very long however.

How high is that roof?
47 metres at maximum height. Which in most games would be fine, but I think occasionally someone would really get hold of one vertically and hit the roof.
Docklands in Australia has a 38 metre high roof, and has been used for cricket, but I'm not sure if the roof was closed for that or not.

@Kyle; it’s only T20 cricket. A rugby field should suffice...
The recommended boundary to boundary square of the pitch is 140 yards. The new stadium will only get slightly over half of that. It would be a bit of a mockery of a game, there wouldn't be any outfielders square of the wicket, they'd be standing only a couple of metres outside the 30 metre circle. The number of 6s would be stupid.

the Otago University school of medicine, of all things, has a long term lease for part of the Cake Tin.
Wasn't the Otago University School of Medicine, it was schools liaison and promotions and a computer lab and whatnot. And the lease ended a couple of years ago and the offices are now in Revera House, Mulgrave St.
I'm not saying they don't exist but they don't provide benefits to the residents (only 13% of whom went to Carisbrook last year) that match what they're being required to pay.
On this basis I plan to get buried out of Dunedin and demand the portion of my rates that go to cemetaries be refunded.
Being an indoor stadium gives Dunedin the ability to bid for events that nowhere else will be able to host. Not sure what that would be; boxing? T20 cricket in winter? But something will pop up.
Politics between Otago rugby and Otago cricket mean that the new stadium can't hold cricket games. It's a rugby field shape, not more oval like Eden Park, Carisbrook etc. Which I thought was silly - first stadium with a roof in NZ would be ideal location for cricket, guaranteed international games.

It's a matter of frustration that the only Dunedin issue that seems to make it onto PAS is the stadium.
