Hard News: Time to Vote, in reply to
Meanwhile, I can’t be the only one enjoying two days in a row of keenly watching returns come in. Although admittedly, at this point it looks like both will go the opposite of the way I’d personally prefer, the excitement for pols geeks is still there.
I was wondering if I was alone in this... we have BBC rolling in the background and the Guardian interactive updating. I have my fingers crossed for the YES vote.
Although! It’s looking very close at 7/32 in, 50.9% for independence. Was way higher for staying until Dundee just rolled in with 57.3% for No
Actually, 57.3% voted YES in Dundee. I suspect that the big cities may continue to sway the result in that direction. I hope so.
And I'm also sorry if this thread's not the right place to discuss Scotish politics. The most impressive thing is turnouts of 85-90% in many electorates. If only we could achieve that level of engagement here.

Thanks Russell. For long time lurkers like me, PAS has proved to be an intelligent and stimulating venue for political discussion these last few weeks. Much appreciated.

Turning Key's quote around a little pretty much sums up my feelings about the way my once great little country has been hijacked by a gang of neo-liberal ideologists for their own ends.
We are a good country doing good things. Then this guy Key and his mates turn up ... they're not passionate New Zealanders.
Yep. That sounds more like it.
-
Good grief. Here's Key having another go at Greenwald for spiking NZ's UN bid.
"We are a good country doing good things. This guy turns up ... he's not a passionate New Zealander.
"He's a conspiracy theorist and people will see it for what it is, " Mr Key told reporters last night.
Conspiracy theorist? Jeez. For a man who's been caught with his hand jammed so firmly in the cookie jar that it's cutting off the blood supply, the least he could do is shut the fuck up.
It would appear that the Nats are still relying on cognitive dissonance to overrule any common sense or human decency developing amongst their supporters.

O'K... we're probably spying on all of you.
Prime Minister John Key says he can't give an absolute assurance New Zealanders are not subject to mass surveillance by the US National Security Agency (NSA) but he is "comfortable" that is not happening.

Hard News: Vision and dumbassery, in reply to
I've set out to contribute respectfully and reasonably and intelligently today which I have.
Your contributions may seem that way to you and all three adverbs would probably apply if you were posting on the oily site.
But really Jake, (or whatever you're calling yourself today) -- have a look around... get a feel for the neighbourhood. Notice the tidy lawns and the absense of vandalism?
It's not all about you. Honestly.

The conspiracy theorist in me wonders whether the Hollywood execs leaked a "fake" of the "real" as a means to discredit it before the MoT - and hence why the "real" was pulled from the presso at the last minute and subsequently referred to Parliament.
Thanks Katherine. As conspiracy theories go, that one makes a lot of sense. It would explain why the email was dropped from Monday's event, and how Fisher alone mysteriously received the document.
