Hard News: The Letter, in reply to
A milder form of Sir Joh’s “don’t you worry about that!”
Heh. Only yesterday Key reminded me of Sir Joh's description of dealing with the media as "feeding the chooks".

Speaker: The problem of “horror tenants”…, in reply to
“Tenants are encouraged to find a property that not only meets their needs and lifestyle"
"Lifestyle" being Ministry-speak for socio-economic level?

Hard News: Practically jokers, in reply to
linked to Joe’s page and pointed out that the sig had somehow gone missing. No response as yet.
Appreciated. For whatever it's worth, I discovered this morning that Kim Dotcom, or whatever constitutes his Twitter presence, is now following me. That appears to be about it. Seriously, even David Farrar has been far more scrupulous about this kind of online hat-tippery.

So maybe the time has come for the CCCP
As envisaged by the always excellent Danny Hellman.

Can someone who ‘does’ twitter take him to task please…
He must understand about Copyright and Terms and Conditions by now…Can you or Joe email me with the background?
Hi Russell & thanks for the heads up Ian. Naturally people will help themselves to images, even people one doesn't necessarily like. I wouldn't be too fussed about no linking back, except this is the first time I've seen someone do it while deliberately trimming my sig from the image. While I'm not much of a twitterer I've attempted to point that out.

Hard News: Meanwhile back at the polls, in reply to
this story from The Press this morning makes me wonder what’s going on even more. Specifically — “a joint research project by the Taxpayers Union and Fairfax Media”.
A bit more depth here

Hard News: Friday Music: Original Beats, in reply to
Plato intimated that
“For a change to a new type of music is something to beware of as a hazard of all our fortunes. For the modes of music are never disturbed without unsettling of the most fundamental political and social conventions.”
There's a Fugs song about that. While it's not in the same league as their Ramses the Second is Dead, My Love, or their inspired raiding of Matthew Arnold, and perhaps serves to demonstrate why there aren't a lot of Plato-derived songs, it has curiosity value.

Legal Beagle: Q&A: John Banks' judicial review, in reply to
I do kind of get the impression it’s become amateur hour over at ACT
That's hardly a new development. You could even claim that Banks is the most "professional" of the three ACT MPs who've been found guilty of an offence in court. Then there was the ridiculous Trevor Loudon, who was party vice president a few years back. It was Loudon who was famously attacked by a rice flail wielding martial artist after harassing him for driving a Lada. Loudon's beef appeared to be that Lada components were manufactured in the Soviet gulag. Presumably he had no objection to Banks's early 90s advocacy of exploiting the Maori prison population to produce handicrafts for the tourist trade.
