but some professions are bound by their codes of conduct as tightly as any law,
From memory there are actually only two remaining professional societies, as they were originally created. They were given special rights from the Crown to adjudicate their own membership. Providing they met certain standards they would be exempt form some legal processes and instead discipline their own members and administer their members right to practice their profession.
The legal profession and the medical profession are the two remaining.
The common usage of the term indicates some sort of educational standard but grants no special legal rights. Hence real estate professional can be anything but in their behaviour with no real consequence, by contrast, legal and medical professionals really do have standards they must meet or they cannot practice.

It’s delusional, fantasyland stuff,
But it also speaks volumes about her suitability to be part of a professional society that purports to uphold the legal system and justice for all New Zealanders.

Wow that's some tortured logic there.
So, since ALL computer systems on the internet are connected that means I can legally access any computer system on the internet because I am authorised to access this computer system that I'm on.
I don't doubt your logical thinking as a lawyer but if that's the case then, in this case, the law is a ass.
Of course it doesn't stop the people doing those things being absolute twatcocks even if what they do can be defended by a lawyer.

So I presume Cathy Ogders is a member of the professional society of Lawyers.
If that's true do you think it is possible that the professional society might question her about an e-mail which appears to show her attempting to incite violence towards Hager?

The person who wrote that message can only be described as evil.
Have you watched House of Cards? As this plays out Iam horribly reminded of just how engaged the central characters in HoC is, you almost find yourself liking them ... and then you remember that they are happy to kill and destroy people to achieve their goals. That at least is fiction.
But it describes evil, the willingness to do harm to other humans simply to increase your power or wealth. That is what Hager's book has shown to be a part of NZ politics.

No reputable media organisation should be using him as a commentator.
It strikes me that several news and media organisations might do a rather thorough clean out of their go-to commentators in the light of this book.

Just a question, I guess it should be somewhere in the public domain but what is Jason Ede's salary? Or in other words what are we paying this man and why exactly should a taxpayer pay him?
Also it so happens we are currently up to episode 22 of House of Cards at home ...

Accidental bigots are so much easier to tolerate than the deliberate kind.
One day we will be allowed to vote on a list of people we DON'T want in parliament, no matter how many other people like them, once enough people say "sod off", they are gone*.
I'm personally starting a list now in hopes that the day may come soon.
Mr Gibson just made it on the list.Accidental or not, bigots do not represent me in parliament.
*and yes I know that would make the PM job much less attractive, which may not be a bad thing.

they can’t answer on their own
There do appear to be some who can, when asked a question, deliver their own personal opinion AND the party policy all while remaining consistent with the party to which they belong.
BUT there are rather a large number of candidates who appear to have been chosen for reasons other than their ability to apply their intellect to a question and then formulate a coherent response.
And then there are the ones who are more than smart enough to think for themselves but choose not to do so and instead deliver the "message" - because, politics.

But maybe the Electoral Commission is confused
That's a high degree of confusion. I suspect it will be a tortured reading of the law that essentially comes down to "don't make fun of nice Mr Key".
