Hard News: All Change, in reply to
I’m curious why they have that policy.
Maybe because various Grey Power groups have been asking for a change in policy, especially for medical cannabis. Change is afoot.

Seymour is a wanker. Even if Shane Jones has some prior claim in that regard.
Looking at a photo of the National cabinet earlier this week I thought, "I despise almost every single one of these people." It would be hard to find a bigger collection of liars and self-interested pricks who don’t give a damn about our country. Thank God that's finally changed.
And it’s great to see that the Greens’ gained a referendum on cannabis legalisation. Hopefully any future legislation will be based on the Drug Foundation’s excellent Model Drug Law proposal which takes a refreshingly common-sense approach to the issue.
After years of neo-lib darkness there is actually a glimmer of hope... of a better future for all New Zealanders. Today is a good day.

Virtually every commentator in the country has been calling the two seat transfer from special votes, but Audrey Young is shocked... Shocked, I tell you.
Was there ever a scenario where National somehow gained seats? Only in Audrey's imagination or some bizarre alternative universe.
To be fair, the story doesn't match the headline. But that didn't stop the Herald running this nonsense as the lead story on their site.

The High Court has allowed a defamation action by three health professionals against Slater junior, Carrick Graham and Katherine Rich to proceed.
The publication of Dirty Politics alerted the two professors and one senior public health advisor to the campaign being waged against them.

Not that you would know how to gauge that because you most likely have a shit moral compass when it comes to what you do for a living.
I'm sure you're an accomplished TVC director Glenn, but you give the impression that you've had a few too many and stumbled into the wrong room. It's an easy mistake to make... you hung a left when you should have kept to the right.
If you're looking for the Young Nats, they're in the Perigo suite down in the basement. That's where you'll feel more comfortable, surrounded by like-minded people for whom morals are optional and ethics take a back seat to self-interest and greed.
Most libertarians tend to ignore the fact that their hero Ayn (government handouts are "immoral") Rand, actually spent her latter years on a government benefit. Not many people know that.

Hmmm. The Dom Post was ready to run a story attributing responsibility for the swamp kauri fiasco, but the story was mysteriously spiked yesterday. Now why would that be?

Hard News: Where are all the polls at?, in reply to
due to most traditionalists voting tomorrow
I wouldn't call myself a traditionalist and I was inclined to vote early. The reason I've held off voting until Saturday is because I like being able to drill down in the ElectionNZ site, right down to my local voting booth. For the last two elections it's been overwhelmingly Green with Labour 2nd and the Nats hardly count. That makes you feel pretty good about your neighbours.
Had I voted early I would be counted in one of the bigger voting places, rather than the nice little village where I live.
Two ticks Green.

I'm surprised that someone in the MSM hasn't picked up on this connection. Yet.
And an interesting thing. If you drill down through Oravida-related companies, director Shi Stone has 14 companies with the word "kauri" in their registered name. Ownership of these seems to weave through a variety of holding companies, for whatever reason.
And I see Jenny Shipley appears as a director for some. If the connection is correct, there is a certain irony in the fact that part of the blame for the current fuel crisis falls on the shoulders of a former National PM as well as an aspiring PM who'll never make the cut.
I guess the positive side of this is the undeniable ability of those responsible to pay full compensation for the damage they've caused.

Ironically, also with a strange link to the Minister charged with fronting and sorting the mess.
A very strange link Hillary. The spill attributed to kauri excavation is in Ruakaka, and there's a company called Kauri Ruakaka Ltd. By a strange twist of fate, that company used to be known as Oravida Kauri Ltd.
Isn't it funny how dots sometimes mysteriously conspire to join up.
