Delays, and threats of more delays in a massive production are never chump change for a company desperate for cash flow.
True. But this is just the last in a long line of things to hit this production, and certainly not the thing that will have delayed or cost it the most. The moderately heavy straw that broke the camel's back possibly.

How about all the people who wish to deny my ability to identify my 'ethnicity' as an NZer check out the results of the question from Stats NZ. The Ethnic Groups they report on refer to large numbers of either nation or region based groups that wouldn't meet your strict definition of 'ethnicity' either.
E.g. American, Australian, Chilean, West Indian, Belgian, Shetland Islander, TaiwaneseAt some stage the question becomes meaningless except as a survey people living in NZ and their identity and feelings about questions of ethnicity.
Which is all very interesting, but doesn't help the Ministry of Health, Education, Police, Corrections, various university researchers, historians etc when they want useful information. It's been put into the census because it's useful information to have.
(See also people who write 'Jedi' as their religion, which also annoys me).

Hmm... I suspect TVone just breached (or tried to?) a suppression order... but in a way subtle enough to not get charged?
Tied together with this, the suppression order becomes a bit farcical.
There's going to be an interesting debate about this supression order next week.

Good to see the police taking Auckland voting registration fraud seriously: Super-city voting probe arrests.
Couple of arrests so far and 40 officers working on the case.

TVNZ has today suspended Breakfast host Paul Henry.
That's an interesting step. Previously he's largely got away with doing nothing or an apology and a tap on the wrist. This is an actual punishment. I wonder what else it carries with it in terms of 'warning', 'final warning', do anything like that again you'll be out etc. Be nice to think we were at least making progress to getting rid of him.

But Key's a professional politician for chrissakes! If he can handle question time (big "If") and campaigning, surely he'd have the savoir faire to say something.
But he should be expected to think on his feet in this circle of competence. As PM that circle is quite broad, but I'm not sure if in his job description to bat down racism - any more than its in everyone's job description as a decent human being. I suspect Lange could react to anything on their feet, I know Grant Robertson would have eaten Henry up if he'd been interviewed, but I think it was a natural skill for them, not easily taught. Key's not a natural or even taught debater.
I still with being appalled at their later statements - Key's was weak-arsed, Goff's was appalling - he didn't even condemn the statement in the quote I saw.

I think that's a little unfair to both Key and Goff. My impression was that they both disagreed with what Henry said.
I think the pokes at Key for not doing something about it live are unfair. If that had been me I probably would have laughed weakly and tried to move on. You just don't expect that sort of crap and you're on national TV and you're not used to making a scene. Ten minutes later as I was leaving I'd be pissed as hell and going over in my head what I should have said.
Afterwards I wish both Goff and Key had come out much stronger. Even if they don't want to do it publicly, I hope both of them have sent a clear message to TVNZ that they would like a different interviewer when they appear in future.

Given that the ratings seem to suggest Paul Henry is popular despite the provocative offensiveness, perhaps I am somewhat deluded in my thinking about what New Zealanders are like.
That's the interesting place that its leading us.
Given that he puts his foot in his mouth on a regular basis, being racist, sexist, and generally a git in other ways, and yet TVNZ still thinks he comes out on the positive side of the ledger.
What does that say about 'us' and what we like to see on TV?
All my facebook wall is filled with comments about what a moron he is. Presumably there are other people around whose circle of friends are a lot more approving of his actions.

I never understood how it worked for The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. It wasn't even level up, it was 'glitter up', and the character sheets had all this stuff about cross dressing. Very confusing for a wee innocent lad such as myself.

I would be rather peeved if I was in a rental property and forced to tend silverbeet so I could learn about the wonders of fresh produce
You might not get to start on the silverbeet. If you piss off your fellow community gardeners you might be on compost duty. If you're lucky they'll give you a shovel.
