Hard News: The scandal that keeps on giving, in reply to
It's an interesting issue - on the left you have the anti-zionists and the right some fundies and the closet racists - I suspect that Key isn't particularly worried about losing the anti-zionist vote to the Greens - but if the fundies stay away it may be an issue for him

some people come by them naturally - my dual citizen kids have NZ and US ones and (like JK) could probably apply for Israeli ones if they wanted to
We travel on our NZ passports and hide the others except when entering the US - and we don't want the Mossad and their like to dilute the safety that being kiwis gives us

I suspect that this story worries the hell out of Key and his minders, the last thing he wants is a "jewish PM won't stand up to Israel (like Helen did)" meme to get out there in an election year

after seeing his pie throwing protest on TV he was tweet-dumped by his girlfriend: "Not funny. Not clever. Not your girlfriend."

I guess I've never lived in London ... which is why I just spent a few moments wondering why they would send out weather forecasters to bump people off ....

Thinking more about Farrar's table I think it's disingenuous because it shows a snapshot in people's life - real people don't stay in the same earnings bracket for all their lives - people's lives follow a natural arc - my son's at Uni, he earns very little and gets lots of govt support - but chances are he'll end up middle classish later on, earn a lot more, pay more tax, claim fewer benefits from the govt, then he'll retire, earn less, pay less tax, be more likely to be ill, get a bit back of what he's put into the tax system.
If you want to see if a system is fair in the way Farrar and his employers are claiming I think you really have to look at the sum of someone's whole life not just the individual stages along that journey

(apologies if you've seen me post this elsewhere ....)
Pissed off by DB trademarking "radler" - there's a way to protest - report them to the NZ Advertising Standards Authority for falsely advertising a 5% beer as a radler aka 2-3% shandy - don't forget to point out how dangerous it is to claim a 5% beer is a low alcohol type beer
Go to: DB's radler page - check out that page (if their stupid cookies let you - the pages are 'age protected'), be offended that they are falsely advertising a 5% beer as a "radler" and make a complaint by filling out this form
