Meth OD-ists...
https://www.police.govt.nz/safety/how-to-identify-a-clandestine-drug-lab.pdfClandestine labs used to cook up methamphetamine have been found in houses, garages, motel rooms, business premises and vehicles. Between 2000 and 2012, Police discovered more than 1,800 of them around New Zealand. A record 211 clan labs were found in 2006, but the total tracked downwards to 94 in 2012. Yvonne Powley, who chairs the Auckland Regional Methamphetamine Working Group, says Police can only uncover the tip of the iceberg. “The meth makers are very mobile, they go from place to place, so the problem keeps increasing every year. It is a big issue. The impact on people who discover they’re renting or have purchased a contaminated property is huge.”

But seriously, I think part of the big pattern of violence against women is that it is often perpetrated by men who are, given the chance, violent to everyone...
and that there is a big difference between self respect, self esteem and self absorption
Plus a culture (mass media driven) that glorifies rage and violence and offers little on how to divert anger and play well with others.Old arguments I know...

I spent two weeks travelling around Cambodia and Malaysia recently - guarding my belongings and dressing as conservatively as I could muster, as advised - yet it was the day I returned to New Zealand that I felt unsafe.
