Hard News: Sorting out our thinking on drugs, in reply to
Thanks Taslov. Interesting that marijuana is a most popular choice. No shit Sherlock ;) I guess we humans can be a sensible lot if you compare those statistics. Looks like we choose one of the least harmful on the body out of the range looked at there. Plus those surveys also indicate it's not going away whereas some other chemical highs are decreasing. That young people's use goes up as risk perception goes down. Must go look to see if I can find stats on how the state of the Nation's wallet/household/financial Crisis, effects choice of drug. Do people chill or speed up as finances fall?

The whole deadwood discussion seems like an unhelpful distraction to me.
Yes me too. Age is relative and they probably have relatives and some would say.. they are old or young and I don't know anyones age here so ....;)

But I also accept that the Party has more control than me with the list and accept it as it stands. Anyway Sacha ,I am happy that Kelvin is jumping in boots and all. Lets hope we can lift the Northland vote.

Ross is retiring and Ruth won her electorate, Mallard won his, O'Connor won his, Goff won his, King won hers, I can go on. Point being these people were voted in by their Electorate. They didn't think they were deadwood and it was their choice. Cosgrove is the only List MP out of those mentioned.
If voters do not like a party’s list, they do not vote for them.
Yep but My Party vote is that. Party vote.

If you look at the list of list MPs in Labour , all up, there is only about 9 list MPs. The rest were put there by the voting public. So Kelvin at 10 isn't that far down.Whoever you think of as "deadwood" has earnt their right to be there. There are not too many on the List. It'll be interesting to see how convenient voting is, as many in rural areas cant even afford the return trips in petrol to voting booths up north. Kelvin will have to encourage the voters up there. I'll see if I can help closer to the time.

She asked me who this ‘smarmy prick’ was and why on earth they made him leader. She said he continually had a fake smile and sounded smug, fake and smarmy. She also commented on his dress (something I never really notice) – saying that he was probably trying for casual since it was late night tv but instead it came across as 70s sleaze.
So she doesn't know who the Labour Party (she voted for), Leader is but wouldn't vote for him cos he looks funny and dresses kinda funny.
Tell her he, along with all the other Mp's are on a 2 week recess so he's allowed out of his suit occasionally even maybe to get a bit of a dryclean . Wouldn't want him to look dirty as well as smarmy eh
FFS ! How 'bout a bit of research instead of just expecting them to win the latest fashion parade . Otherwise we can get the AB's to run the country eh. Throw in a couple of trophy wives, so it smells good too. -

I don’t think the intimate details of Shane Jones’ medical history is anyone else’s business.
And neither do I . Just it was his words that I listened to not all the guesswork that has exploded. So it could be helpful to understand his decision should one care to take note of his words.
Plus the timing thing. Anytime would have had the same media pack say the same things about who what where why and how. Then the panel discussions like he didn't exist anymore.
