  • Hard News: Meme Syndicate, in reply to kmont,

Hey I was supposed to be the one who bought Russell Brown a bloody Maru calendar! What is the world coming to. Have trip planned and it is only just hitting me now how amazing it is going to be to go back 4 years later to Japan and make people happy by taking pressies and bringing pressies back, just like a real Japanese person would.

kowhai if you wanted i suspect you could do a roaring trade in maru calendars
and we would all pay in advance - i'd like 2 one for me and on for my cat

although people can buy them online http://www.jbox.com/product/CLNIE001

  • Hard News: Dropping the Bomber,

So apparently now he wasn't banned?
    I'm confused?

didn't someone here mention an email sent across all of radionz? or did i get that wrong, becuase now instead of well maybe this is a bit uncool, it's so very wrong.

And yes the panel is often filled with all kinds of meh, but occasionaly when they have enlightened and people like David slack and Bernard hickey who do some research and make reasons arguments it's good radio.

  • Hard News: Dropping the Bomber,

The Prime Minister is hugely popular

    But why? Whyyyyyyyy?

    it's becuase he's so lovely
That's why he turns up at rugby league matches smiling holding a baby.
The sad reality is that the vast group of people don't engage much in politics so Key's charisma factor wins every time. Add Phill Goff being so very bland and it's a cakewalk to victory.

My theory - national learnt well from the bush cheney years. have the smiling dude in charge (key) and the deputy behind the scenes (english) making the big calls.

  • Hard News: Dropping the Bomber,

what got me at the time was that
    - i had no idea of john key's neck slicing action
    - all jim mora wanted to do was talk about cats
    - if bomber was less ranty and less conspiracy theory i'd pay attention to him more often

the panel is always a bit of a hotch potch of sometimes great, sometimes ill informed but i always listen. but a ban for life? really? i don't get it

  • Hard News: Where are the foreigners?!,

it’s now evident that Rugby World Cup 2011 is not delivering the anticipated hospitality bonanza

And despite a few upbeat retailers, most i know have actually found the RWC has hurt business, sales normally pick up this time of year but it’s not happened.

And loads of campervans yes, but are those people spending money at places outside supermarkets?

yes recession and people thinking more carefully before they spend are factors, but it’s pretty bleak out there.

  • OnPoint: Set it on fire, then,

oh 2007, part of the joel cosgrove years, good times, lighting money on fire would have been a idea

Sometimes universities do step in where important stuff is needed. An example is something like the disability services at Victoria university, they are amazing.

  • Field Theory: What to watch,

since i decided to get tickets for one game i thought Argentina – Scotland would be the cheapest tickets for pool matches in wellington, but no. still think that sounds like the most fun game, I'm crossing fingers for last minute super cheap tickets
