We used to work, down the mine, week in week out for tuppence a fortnight and when we got home our dad would make us use Netscape.

I've seen a Kookaburra swipe a sausage from a bun whilst said bun was on it's way upto a mouth. It took the swossage up onto a tree and beat it against the trunk to make sure it was dead.
I have also had the little darlings do the crazed laugh down the chimney pipe of a wood burner at 6 am, bless them.
They are pretty cool birds. -
I'm impressed with Michelle Obama, too. How can a family handle that much rhetorical flair? P
Very true, Rob. She is the best thing in American politics for as long as I can remember.

Great, first post, Emma.
Even if you do own a banjo, I am going to read your stuff. It's that multi- skilling thing, to type and play "Rainbow Connection" at the same time. -
Best of luck in [redacted] Tze Ming Mok. I will miss your writings.

I got the pleasure of a digipoll survey on my attitudes to xtra recently. Very therapeutic but I did feel a bit sorry for the caller. Having to tick "Strongly Disagree" all of the time must be boring.

I aren't as skilled at this here interweb as some but would be interested to know what the origin was of of this entry at Wikipedia on the page about the vile Jack Abramoff
The scandal is known for being completely blown out of proportion by Democrats and the media for political purposes.

It's just that violence in the home is way more important than violence on the sports field (how many kids get killed in sports fights). They are on the same continuum but it is kind of vital that we stop killing our children and probably not so vital that we stop bashing each other on sports fields. Note that I said that sports clubs could take the lead in promoting the unacceptability of violence.
As a society we have to move away from violence as a way to resolve problems but right now stopping bashing our kids is more important than stopping sports people fighting. Yes we should move on both fronts. -
But how do you "sell" it in a country devoted to rugby?
The rugby players are at least bashing those of roughly equal physical development. It would have to be made clear that it stayed on the field and while still unacceptable was at least contained. I mean let's get it sorted so that everyone understands that violence in the home is unacceptable. Sports clubs could take the lead here.
The Listener editorial seemed about as confused as anyone else but made the suggestion that more grass roots organisation is needed. Could we not dip into the surplus for this? It's kind of vital.
The whole area is a nightmare and I will listen to anybodies solutions just in case they might work.
