I notice that Andrew mentions a “piano-led take on ‘Point That Thing’ from a rare 1999 release, Slush Fund. I had never heard of it or heard it until now. It’s good!
Me neither. I've seen The Clean play a keyboard-led version once or twice, but I had no idea such a release existed. Must now obtain!

I think what starts as people genuinely trying to point out what they perceive as people in the media behaving badly or inaccurately, soon evolves into more pointed versions of “I just don’t like that person particularly much” or “I would’ve done that differently therefore that person is bad”.
I very consciously try and be precise about what I think is wrong when I make a media criticism - eg: when the Herald website had that dumb, inappropriate "f-bomb" Lorde headline this week, noting that the homepage sub had made a bad call, rather than the "Ya boo Herald sucks" thing.
And I pointed that out to Shayne Currie on Twitter, and he agreed with me and changed the headline. I did feel kinda bad that most of the responses ro my original tweets were "Ya boo, Herald sucks" though ...

Whether it's over the lunchtable or on the shiny, modern, highly-available, very public platforms for public bitching, we all do more of it than we should.

According to this more recent Herald report, Lorde was late on stage because she was sick and vomiting.
I saw the Splore tweet last night too -- and I don't think the person behind the Splore account is the kind to make things up. Didn't retweet it because I didn't want to be the one who made "vomit" the word of the evening :-)

Anyway ...
I had a great time, but I wouldn't want to see any more than 10,000 people on the site. There was a point, about 4-6pm, when there queues and crowds all over the place, and Jim and I got caught in a crush around the Cactus Cat stage -- which doesn't provide the kind of capacity or quality of production the artists there deserve.
What can be done about it on the present site, I'm not sure.

It is possible that I was too far back in the crowd to appreciate the clearly widely-liked Savages. It is also possible that I am a bit too much of a shallow pop-ho and they’re just… not really my thing. Where are my easily digestible hooks? :)
You're not alone. I didn't think their actual music matched the high-concept.

We saw the end of Chvrches. Loved-up pop, a little bombastic at times, but boy, was their crowd up for it.
