the longer you have contributed to your schemes, the longer your dole lasts, plus the dole and your pension is a percentage of your last wage, not a flat pay out as in NZ
What happens when your dole runs out?
It sounds like a scheme that is pretty harsh on those people who are marginal employed, on seasonal work, or who struggle to hold down a job for very long, but which is great for people who earn more in more secure employment.

That's cool that you find Mike's tardiness fine. But for others, including station management, it's not cool.
Particularly for a job which actually has hours in the title. How many hours you have to work to do the broadcast hours, I would have thought those hours would be the minimum if you wanted to keep your job.

What, before the Dec 2006 coup we were talking about, you mean. Again, keep up the humour.
I don't see how the date correction invalidates Craig's point that both Labour and National led governments set the level of the sporting ban at "we'll ban until it actually has some meaning, and then we'll cave".

And what about the people who come along late/at half time? Or complimentary ticket holders?
I think I've already answered that. A condition of the tickets is that you turn up by a certain time or you may miss out.

3 News is hardly worth watching
It is indeed all relative. We might try TVNZ 7 news.

Can you tell I was not particularly impressed?
I had the same reaction. I was listening not watching the news item, but I wondered why they were covering it until they mentioned the Pacific series on TV.
Using a massacre of prisoners in our past to flog your TV show. Classy.
My partner has finally agreed with me that TV One news isn't worth watching, and is switching to 3.

(cough) Herceptin (cough)
Yeah that was the govt, not Pharmac though. Playing politics with drugs money, bad form.

Given that a number of people have argued for reducing or removing entirely the threshold, if that took place, it would continue to happen.

Word is the Thai Army's Psych Ops is playing the redshirts Boney M right now. Better than water cannons for breaking resolve perhaps
It's to my girlfriend's shame that Bony M would bring me to the scene quicker than just about anything.

There is NO sense of community when the basis for some of stat holidays is a dying( christian) religion and very few of us are even interested in the bloody (word used advisedly) thing
For starters, the basis for most of our religious stat holidays is as much heathen as Christian.
I have yet to meet any non-religious person who refuses to celebrate Xmas on 25 December because it's has a basis in religion, though I've met a family that celebrate Xmas at the winter solstice for seasonal purposes.
A lot of people, like myself, don't consider it, or Easter religious at all. Like Valentines, they're capitalist holidays as much as anything else, and I'm quite happy with that as long as I get something good :)
