  • Hard News: Pomp and Circumstance,

Gordon Campbell has some informed comment on National's pledge to adopt Rodney Hide’s New Zealand Taxpayers Bill of Rights Bill as a government bill.

    Well that's pretty scary.

    That's because it's how they're officially branded...

    OK, that's dumb.

And, if they're going to write it that way, they should play that way, which they don't do that often.

pretty irresponsible to turn up at a tv talk show plastered

I think if you watch the show, you'll find that he wasn't actually rolling around in the gutter.

And given his background and the organisation he was representing, I'm not sure if he would have made much more sense sober.

Is *that* what it is? Sometimes I find myself reading Craig's posts and, with the best will in the world, there will be a moment where everything seems to spin madly around in my head and I have no idea what's going on. :)

I think you took a left turn somewhere in your life Danielle. That must be where you went wrong.

So while you might not like what is happening, you are now in the minority in this country.

First they came for the people who did not vote for change...

There seems to be plenty of "capitalist pig" theorising going on here (privatising airspace in parks, etc) and that's fine, whatever floats your boat, but I do sometimes wonder, why don't you just sit back and watch what actually unfolds with an open mind?

I'm sorry. That sign at the door saying "No sense of humour allowed inside". That's our wee joke. Try enjoying the conversation with an open mind?

Rose-wilting heat in Dunedin last year? Unprecedented! This year though there's been lots of snow around so clearly global warming is a myth.

But no wait, on Saturday it was like 29 degrees here, and my dogs were puffing and panting and hardly got up from their couch all day. Maybe it's true? I'm so confused!

If only there was a collection of experts, chosen from all over the world, un-baised and independently evaluated, who could tell me what was really going on? Man that would help me out.

I wish Rodney would set up one of those.

...because the show was going out live and uneditied and since television is a world of teetotallers, the thought that someone who was well-toasted could have gone off at any moment never crossed anyone's mind?

Presumably these were all things that crossed the producer's mind, which is why they spoke to him before the show. I don't think the conversation took place because he was 'a bit of alright'.

And decided that she was happy for him to go on air. And he didn't vomit up his lunch or punch anyone.

I've never heard anyone say that the footage of Muldoon announcing the 1984 election should never have made it to air, after all.

    But I'm focusing on Carter.
13 tackles + 3 assists and 2 misses, presumably most on O'Gara... Not bad I think.

I'm not sure if O'Gara ran the ball... well at all really. I think he's from the Grant Fox mold of first-fiving.

Carter brought down a couple of big forwards, I remember that. One of the misses was on the #7 I think.

And every time someone points to one of those lists of disssenting scientists -- which includes, among other things, the hosts of TV gardening programmes -- that view is reinforced.

But Russell, last year my roses wilted under the heat, and this year, growing strong and not going brown fast at all. And my veges, let me tell you.

Clearly, climate change is a myth.
