  • Megan Wegan,

Murray Mexted, in fine form, said at one point: "Listen to the silence".

My favourite was when Tommy Bowe came back on, and Tony Woodcock was still off, and he said "But that actually gives the All Blacks the advantage."

So, wait, what? Having an extra player off gives the ABs an advantage?

Shhhhhh, Murray. Don't tell the refs, they'll cotton on to the master plan.

  • Kyle Matthews,

I did like the penalty against Jimmy Cowan for pushing his opposite number. Cowan looked like he was yelling "Fuck off! Fuck off!" Aren't you filled with pride?

You can take the boy out of Southland...

  • Naly D,

While the All Blacks didn't exactly put up a cricket score

I think the BLACKCAPS would be quite chuffed to be 22/3 at this stage.

  • Kyle Matthews,

This was not the case at the lineout where the crowd was drowning out the calls, causing me to wonder why they don't use hand signals.

I'm not sure if having the hooker looking like a baseball coach and fondling himself and adjusting his non-existent hat thrice would improve the game to be honest.

Murray Mexted, in fine form, said at one point: "Listen to the silence".

He topped that with "And the referee explains everything for all to understand - which I don't understand."

Tracey has just put up the stats.
I didn't see the game but it appears the All Blacks never got to put the ball into a scrum until the second half? That seems rather unusual.

  • Kyle Matthews,

If we could hack into whatever Stephen Jones uses to watch the rugby, and just pipe in Murry Mexted as his only commentator, sans pictures.

... that would be the bomb. I would definitely read his next column.

Ok so let's all adore McCaw for his work-rate... But I'm focusing on Carter.
13 tackles + 3 assists and 2 misses, presumably most on O'Gara... Not bad I think.

I'm not sure if O'Gara ran the ball... well at all really. I think he's from the Grant Fox mold of first-fiving.

Carter brought down a couple of big forwards, I remember that. One of the misses was on the #7 I think.

Ta, I'm off to analyse them.

He topped that with "And the referee explains everything for all to understand - which I don't understand."

Yeah, the comedic timing of, with the little pause, made it perfect.

Yep. Even when he's missing them from in front, he's still pulling off loose-forward work that wouldn't embarrass an actual No.7.

    lol

And 22 after 80mins would be a very slow run-rate.

    Oh I don’t know.

Ponting’s Australia would have probably got through about 10 overs in that time.

Yes. I especially liked the CAPSLOCK in BLACKCAPS.

    That's because it's how they're officially branded...

    OK, that's dumb.

And, if they're going to write it that way, they should play that way, which they don't do that often.

  • LegBreak,

Whoever approved that capitalisation should be named and shamed. And possibly shot.

I don’t like to be yelled at by a team name.

BTW, it gets worse. It’s spreading far and wide. For example, in Dunedin at the moment, the following game is taking place:

    OTAGO VOLTS vs NORTHERN KNIGHTS

    Just settle down please.

Is here where I whine about teams being named after one singular thing? The Force, the Storm, the Jazz, the Inferiority Complex... it drives me batty. Let it end.

One good reason to celebrate the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea's come from behind victory, goalkeeper Hong (own goal - 2 min) is probably not going to be shot.

I'm still stuck at why the teams aren't called just Auckland, Wellington, etc. but then I'm a notorious hater of fun.
